This book, published by the National Science Teachers Association Press, is an excellent choice for use by teachers of grades 5-12 science classes. It is well written with powerful step-by-step guidance for classroom activities. The book also connects to key principles from the field of cognitive research and theories of student learning. Also provided is a treasure chest of excellent on-line resources to support the effective teaching of science.

I purchased this book to get my classes more involved in the subjects I am teaching. There are a bunch of demos in the book, but I thought this book would be a complete source. I still have to research and find more demos on a weekly bases. Although this book does save me time by having complete demos, I still have to supplement from other sources.

Everything is as advertised in this book. Some of the activities, though, will take about twice as long as the book describes they will.
