Just Not The Same,
By Gina Eftekhari (San Mateo, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Brain Quest Grade 1 (Cards)
We have Brain Quest for ages 3-4 and 5-6. My children love them and the pictures are great--very helpful for the pre-reader group. I recently bought the Brain Quest for ages 6-7 for air travel and my 6 year old daughter was very disappointed. She doesn't like that there aren't any illustrations throughout the entire 750 Questions and Answers. Each page looks the same with only topic symbols. I suppose a 7 year old might enjoy this format better than a 6 year old. I would stick with the 5-6 Brain Quest for as long as you possibly can before you move on to the Brain Quest for Ages 6-7.

I buy every Brain Quest package available each year, according to my son's age. They're easy to travel with & he loves proving that he knows SO MUCH. Just enough easy ones to make him confident & enough harder ones to keep him challenged. I suggest the math version, too. We keep them in the car, in his room, in the living room, in his suitcase, etc. Great illustrations & visual stimulus for visual learners too.

My 1st grader loves it!,

I hesitated to get this after reading some of the reviews, but my son loves it. The lack of pictures does not bother us. I've been reading the questions to him and he answers. After we go through it all, I will encourage him to read through it himself since the questions will be more familiar to him. He is so excited when he gets a "genius point"!

This was our first time trying Brain Quest and we love it! Our son loves that he can answer the questions right most of the time. It is so much better than just mindlessly watching cartoons while riding in the car for long distances. It also involves the whole family to play. There are so many questions in the package, we still have not made it through all of them. There is also a good variety of different types of questions. I was surprised when my son correctly answered questions I had no idea he would know! The Brain Quest people have obviously done their homework in developing this product, and I plan on buying more for gifts!

A huge hit with my kindergartner! We do one card (or more) each morning and it gets my son thinking. He's so proud of himself when he answers the questions correctly. Definitely recommended for kids who love to be challenged. (If I could have found more in the store, would have bought them as gifts for all of his friends.)

This is full of great questions for 1st graders. It is a helpful learning tool for parents & kids to interact. If you want you 1st grader to use these independently, I would suggest buying a grade lower. Kindergarten is still full of great information and challenges.

I have been using the brain quest with my twin 6 year old kids and they usually enjoy playing the game. over the last week they actually started reading questions to each other in the car. Better than fighting with each other :).
