I purchased this item to expand my 3 and 4 year olds' minds. Well, they both loved this game. And the best thing I ever did was take it to Disney World with us and played it with the kids while we were standing in lines for the rides. It made the time go so fast, the kids were learning and even the other children standing in line were interested. This year we are going back to Disney and I just purchased the Pre-school and the Kindergarten ones. I am planning on more success standing in long lines with small children. I highly recommend this product!

My daughter is 4.5 and I thought preschool level would be just right for her, but it's too easy - and she's your average preschooler. Luckily I've got a 3 year old too, and she is enjoying these cards, so it's not a total waste of money. I recommend those for kids under 4-5.

What do you kids do when in the car and on a long trip or even on a not so long one? They could watch some movie on a DVD (boring), stare through the window at highway landscapes (more boring) or they could play Brain Quest. Since we have more than one kid - more than 2, actually - Brain Quest has been one of our 'must bring along' items whenever we go drive on vacation or even when going to the movies, given that the closet theater is more than 30 miles away.

The 'Ages 4-5' edition, obviously, can only be played with the participation of a grownup or at least an older kid who could read. It's a stack of colorful cards holding 300 full-color, illustrated questions and their answers on several color-coded (the background is) categories such as shapes, patterns, numbers and the alphabet, animals and so on. As the child plays, he/she not only accumulates factual knowledge, which is important but, more importantly, the child develops learning skills. The children can answer verbally, point to the correct answer or both. Further discussion is possible and encouraged. Our experience was that kids enjoyed playing Brain Quest and, in fact, have asked us for the higher levels as they outgrew the early editions.

I found the one-pin binding holding the cards together most helpful. It makes Brain Quest the only 'cards' game where it's almost impossible to lose cards - you can lose the entire deck, of course.

The entire Brain Quest series is supported at a dedicated Web site where more downloadable material is available.

Highly recommended to the extent that an adult or an older sibling is willing to play with the child.

My 3 1/2 year old daughter loves Brainquest! We just wish they made more sets for each level. We usually read books every night at bedtime but now she prefers to do brainquest every night!

After reading the reviews that suggested these are more appropriate for 3 year olds, I purchased this for my 3 1/2 year old daughter. She knows all of her letters, letter sounds, numbers/counting, shapes, colors, etc etc etc and is starting to read and do some simple math, and about 90% of the questions are too easy for her. I'm not sure if my daughter is unusually smart (that may just be her mother's imagination) or if it's because I've spent a lot of time teaching her.

So, don't go by your child's age in deciding which Brain Quest to buy but go by your child's level. This Brain Quest has questions like, "Which picture goes with "F"? "What is missing from this doll? How many chimneys have smoke coming out of them? Which picture rhymes with "three"? Let's find things that start with "s" as in "sun" and "sky." Which baskets have the same number of Easter eggs? How many blue balloons are for sale? What color is the fish swimming behind the boat? Look for the pattern. Which shapes comes next? Which shadow belongs to the umbrella in the circle?

Despite the easiness, my daughter still loves them and asks to do them every day. And for that, I give this product 5 stars. I ended up having to hide these because I bought them for our upcoming 12 hour flight and I want to save some questions for the trip.

My son loves to play with this. We will take it out on places where we need to wait for something, like on restaurants, in the car, etc. I have this collection from the 2 year old deck, which I now use with me younger daughter. She loves it too. Great way to practice what they know and teach them new things while they have some fun. They get bonus points for being so portable!

We bought this for our 3 yo because we loved the 3's pack. I wasn't sure if he would do well with this set but he does a fine job. Some questions and concepts are a bit ahead of him but he gets the majority of it. The questions are really age appropriate and make learning fun. He just loves to go through the questions! I'm all for anything that makes learning fun. He goes around and makes up questions (like, "which one is bigger? This ball or this box?"). I would not hesitate to buy these for your preschooler.

My child absolutely loves these flash cards. They are fun and educational. At first I thought they were maybe a little too easy for my 4 year old, but realize after getting through the first deck, that it is quite appropriate for his age. He is extremely excited when he gets all the answers correct. Great for his confidence. Package arrived on time and nicely packaged.
