This review is from: Brainlash: Maximize Your Recovery from Mild Brain Injury (Paperback)
This book was recommened to us to read from a Craniosacral Therapist even though it has been one and half years since my husband had a closed head injury.
I now understand some of his behavior that was decribed in this book, like him sitting and stairing into space for hours, it explains that his brain needs & uses this time to heal. I would recommed this book immeditaly to any family that a loved one has had an head injury. The sooner it is read the better to help yourself and your family deal with the behaviors that are to follow and to help their loved one to understand that it is okay and help them except what their body is going through. It should be part of the discharge information from the hospital.. A must read. Since my husband didn't have any broken bones or flesh wounds all they could say about the pain is he got hit in the head by a tree he will need time to heal. Since he looked normal to everyone including family and friends they didn't see and experience what I did and still do with him, he was and is ok. They believe the issues he is still stuggling with is because of his age, I tell them no it's the injury. We have the book now and we are learning to use the idea's in the book to continue to heal and gain back or at least maintain where he is at now.

excellent,
This review is from: Brainlash: Maximize Your Recovery from Mild Brain Injury (Paperback)
My dad is an avid reader, learner, and loving father. He bought me this book to help along the journey. When he handed it to me I was angry and did not want to think about brain injury any more than I already did (all day). At the time I did not think I could even comprehend or take on the visual task of getting through a few pages. Gradually I crept through the book. What I found was far from what I thought I would find. This book is exceptional. It is full of encouraging advice, crucial information, and makes the world of brain injury a less frightening and scrambled place. There are days when life is horrific and I'll randomly remember something I read in the book, or pick it up to remind myself this is part of the journey/injury. It is easy to read with the big print, very short broken down sections, and a kind voice to gently remind you that you're not alone. It is full of information I would have never known. I cannot say enough about this book. Lifesaver.
