I really enjoyed this dvd. I particularly like the lessons on funk beats and go-go beats. There's a booklet included with all the lessons written out. This dvd is funny and entertaining in between the lessons as well.

This is not your ordinary Instructional Drum DVD. Brain's Lessons is taught in a fun, entertaining manner which seems like it would appeal to all ages. It is taught by Brain (Primus, Guns n' Roses, Tom Waits, Praxis, Buckethead) I thoughly enjoyed it. Brain's Lessons was an excellent way to learn about different drum styles and techniques. I would definately recommend it highly to anyone at any stage of drum level. Unique! Not to be missed!

To put it simply. This is the most entertaining and best Drumming DVD i own! He makes it fun and and creative. It's a good laugh and it taught me alot of what I apply to the drums on a regular basis. Thanks Brain!

I Love shrimp. Sometimes I'll take out the trash. But when it comes to funky grooves with the most rock-solid time this side of Big Ben, Brain (Brian Mantia) is hard to 'beat'...This DVD is both totally entertaining and informative. This actually should be in EVERY DRUMMERS dvd library. Why? Because when all is said and done, all there really is that matters is feel, groove and above all time. Not independence exercises for octopus. Not 94th note sextuplet diddles on the griddle. Brain will educate your mind, so as to be able to think about what time is really all about and how it serves the music rather than satiating your inner-Neil Peart cream dreams at the sacrifice of the band. I bought a turtle. I named it Brain. THAT'S how good this DVD is. Five out of five turtles.
