Book Description

Are you good at predicting how a book will turn out? Do you try to figure out what's coming next? Challenge yourself with BRAINSTORM! Be lulled into thinking you know where the storyline is headed and then be hit with plot twists you'll never see coming. And the ending? You will not guess it! But you will love it!

BRAINSTORM is the story of Audrey Dory, who while working to manage her anxiety disorder, finds herself in jeopardy of losing her business, her best friend, and her police officer boyfriend. With everything she values at stake, Audrey begins a journey to find out who is turning her world upside-down, before everything she cherishes is taken from her, including her sanity.

While struggling to gain control over her life, Audrey uncovers a trail of dysfunction, greed, and deception, as she puts her faith in people who may or may not be worthy. How does she decide who to trust when her anxiety disorder muddles her judgment, and leads her to make irrational decisions?

The human brain is an amazing organ. The average adult brain weighs about three pounds and has over 85 billion cells (neurons). Each neuron can connect with more than 5,000 other cells. Despite its relative small size compared to the total body size, it uses more than twenty-five percent of the daily energy consumed by a person. The human brain is capable of imagining and creating new ideas and thoughts. Those thoughts can lead to acts that create fascinating music, such as Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony; beautiful art such as Monet’s Impression-Sunrise; inspiring words such as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s I Have a Dream speech; and new scientific theories such as the Big Bang theory. But, that same organ can create thoughts of fear, guilt, greed, violence, and others that can cause acts which are harmful. Or, those thoughts can prevent you from taking action at all.
In Brainstorm, Margaret Belle hooks readers and reels them inside the brain of Audrey Dory, to follow the inner thoughts of a young woman advertising executive. Audrey is troubled by a series of unexpected events that affect her business and her personal live. She struggles with her fears, guilt, business plans, dreams, temptation, and love
While Audrey’s own thoughts jump here and there, back and forth, she does not stay safely in her own home. As some scientists and advertisers know, you actions are controlled by conscious thoughts, but also by unconscious stimulations, which include catchy phrases, sounds, smells and other things, that prime you to take certain action or make certain decisions without consciously understanding the reasons for them. Audrey responds to both conscious and unconscious stimuli. She ventures out from here to there in search of something. Is it: Peace of mind? New business? Love? Money?

5.0 out of 5 stars A Gripping Read. A Must for Mystery/Thriller Fans. December 3, 2013

Brainstorm by Margaret Belle is an exciting and gripping read. When I started the book, I read and read and didn't realize the time pass. For fiction, I have three key points that makes me like it: plot, characters, and writing. With some novels, the writing sometimes gets in the way of the story, but Belle's writing was very fluid, fast paced, and was a blast to read. It allowed the plot and characters to shine. The plot was enthralling; I kept swiping forward to see what was going to happen next. And with mysteries stacking up, the book just made me want to read more. As for the characters, I think Belle got Audrey, the main character with anxiety disorder, spot on. The characters are interesting and make you have a sense of compassion for them. All in all, I had a great experience with the book. If you're a thriller or mystery fan, I highly recommend that you read this. You'll love it!

This book keeps you turning the pages up to the very last one. The excitement starts right from the beginning of the story and never lets up. The very real characters stay with you as you follow them through a young woman's ordeal that effects them all in one way or another. It is fast paced and intense.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read! December 4, 2013
Verified Purchase
Brainstorm by Margaret Belle is a book that will keep you turning pages from page 1. The characters are very well developed, and more importantly, believable. The characters stay imprinted in your mind as you follow them through a challenge that affects all of them in some way.

The plot is fantastic, fast paced, and a little intense, but it flows seamlessly, and as the characters, it is very well developed.

The writing is fabulous, and also flows seamlessly from word to word. It is definitely a book you want to read, not only for the content, but for the sheer enjoyment of reading a really good book.
I can't recommend highly enough!

3.0 out of 5 stars started great, finished weird March 5, 2014

If I'd been asked to review this book when I hadn't read any more than 2/3 of the way through, I'd have raved about it. Easy read, suspenseful without undue anxiety provoking, kept me engaged. And then the main character suddenly behaved erratically, not at all the way she'd acted before. And the book ended oddly and very unsatisfying. Bummer! I wish the author kept up the momentum.

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely check this book out! November 28, 2013

I LOVED this book! Plots of mystery novels can sometimes (paradoxically) be predictable, but this one had enough real twists and turns that I physically couldn't put it down. I also really, really enjoy the author's writing style. It sort of reminds me of the style of one of my favorite mystery writers, Mary Higgins Clark, with more of a modern tone. The main character is relate-able, the story unfolds naturally and organically, and the romance subplot is well played out. I'll certainly be looking for more books from this author!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to Put Down November 28, 2013

Just when she thinks she has gotten her life together and has finally learned to control the anxiety disorder that has plagued her for years, everything starts going wrong for Audrey Dory. Several of her clients go missing, her advertising agency is broken into, and her assistant is attacked. As lies, mysterious deaths, and disappearances pile up, Audrey must face her decade old run in with a bank robber and fight off the anxiety that threatens to consume her.

Brainstorm is a faced paced, edge of your seat mystery novel that is hard to put down. I loved that Audrey suffers from an anxiety disorder because it added another level of tension to the novel. Well written and fun to read, (with a very unexpected twist at the end) Brainstorm will be a great addition to the book collection of mystery or thriller fans. Read this book. You won’t be disappointed.
