5.0 out of 5 stars You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to enjoy this book
This book reads like a novel, but covers real people and events. It is obviously very well researched and isn't the usual B$ you might see on the topic. If you have any interest in the subject of mind-control, interrogation, the use of truth drugs, and so on, I can highly recommend this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Streatfeild is delusional. Very mainstream and misinformed.
Quite a few subjects on mind control are brought up in the book and on each one the author repeatedly debunks the "myth" of brainwashing. He believes that soldiers who confessed to war crimes in the korean war did not believe what they were confessing to and that none of them actually converted to communism. He believes that hundreds of children at McMartin Preschool...

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceeded my expectations, June 1, 2008

I actually checked this book out at the local library for a paper on hypnosis. Needless to say, I was impressed. Extremely well written. Even my friend, who has never picked up a book for fun in his life, picked this book up and ended up asking to borrow it. Get this book. It's not as boring as you may think a book like this may be. Read, the first chapter, and I promise you won't want to put it down.

4.0 out of 5 stars Full, yet empty., February 10, 2012

This review is from: Brainwash: The Secret History of Mind Control (Paperback)
There are several great reviews on here that detail the minutiae of this book, but I believe this book is, indeed, excellent as a "one book" primer.

This book covers so much ground in under 330 pages that subjects cannot be given the proper treatment they deserve. I really enjoyed the read as it mostly reads like fiction.

Also, I really loved the book recommendations in the back of the book as it is quite extensive!

Buy this book if you're looking for a general overview or as an advanced primer.

Quite a few subjects on mind control are brought up in the book and on each one the author repeatedly debunks the "myth" of brainwashing. He believes that soldiers who confessed to war crimes in the korean war did not believe what they were confessing to and that none of them actually converted to communism. He believes that hundreds of children at McMartin Preschool lied about abuse even though some kids were diagnosed with blunt force trauma to genitals and std's. There was also a tunnel found under the school which I'm sure the author would respond to by saying that those people who unconvered the tunnels weren't legitimate. Over and over Streatfeild takes the view that any Hannity/Oreilly lying shill would take on these contraversial events, that is, that there is no evidence of conspiracy. If I remember correctly he also portrays False Memory Syndrome as a respectable, legitimate organization and makes a straw argument against the existence of ritual satanic abuse by using a case that was clearly not RSA and omitting any real ones. There are plenty of good books on hidden history, this is not one of them. Anyone in the know would be aggravated reading disinfo like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Explaining Obama Mania, August 6, 2008
My title explains my purpose for this review. This book explains how a no-name candidate can rise to the status of presidential candidate of the United States of America.

By some, Obama has been nicknamed the Messiah. Read this book and you will see that this nickname is no joke. Most of his followers are brainwashed.
