The rest of the Brainwavz line is based on dynamic drivers but the Brainwavz B2 has quite a different sound since it is based on a dual balanced armature configuration.

Listen to Your Music as it Was Meant to be Heard

Balanced armature technology provides better sound reproduction. The two small drivers have been meticulously tuned to provide crystal clear and accurate audio, so you can enjoy your music as it was meant to be heard.

Sound Quality for Audiophiles

The B2 sound signature is one of detail, with wonderful mids, clear highs, wide soundstage, and a bass that many would coin as just right. The sound could be best summarized as being well rounded, where each part of the sound spectrum is well represented and a truly balanced sound is provided.

Comfortable Fit - Worn Like A Pro

The B2's small and compact size allow them to sit comfortably in your ears. The in-the-ear design allows for a proper seal that will block out almost all outside noise.

Whats that you say? $160.00...and your calling them BUDGET? Let me explain. The B2's are in a class of IEM's(in ear headphones) that are usually sold for over $200.00...making this a great deal for anyone looking for a high quality, well engineered true dual armature IEM. For those who don't know, dual armature means dual drivers, in this case a separate woofer(bass) and tweeter(high end)tuned to produce a well balanced, even sound. The B2's have a great sound stage, with a smooth and wide dispersal, making these sound better than any single driver IEM's I've ever heard, at any price. This is not an IEM for those who like a specific type of sound, like heavy bass for instance. While the bass is tight and smooth, it isn't heavy to the point that thats all you hear...and thats the whole point of having a great balanced set of dual armature IEM's, to allow you to hear ALL the sounds of a given piece, not just one part of it...it makes music you've heard a thousand times sound new and fresh, with subtle sounds you've never heard before taking center stage for the first time. For the price, these are a true bargain, just like the entire Brainwavz series before them. I could not more highly recommend these for the serious audiophile looking for their next purchase. Try these, you wont regret it!

For those of you who just think that your head/earphones sound muddy and all the instruments are bunched together...try these.

The focus of the B2s are simply on clarity. You will hear everything you ever wanted to pick up from any song, and notice layers you never knew were there. Instrument separation is ridiculous, you can clearly pinpoint and pick up every instrument being played. With that being said, these are not friendly at all to poorly mastered tracks or bad compressions. The dual armatures are quick, snappy and responsive, no bass bleeds or bloatedness. The bass is plentiful but lacks impact, if you're a basshead check out the Brainwavz ProAlpha In-Ear Headphones Bass Lovers.
The B2 likes to be positioned fairly deep in your ear canal, I use the included small tips or a triple flange that fits. The deeper insertion seems to add a little more bass and tone down the bright highs in 2k~5k region. These are closed earphones(I think), very good isolation.

Pros:
-tight, controlled bass
-extremely detailed and clear mids and highs, with sparkle
-spacious soundstage
-pretty neutral sound signature
-red comply foams are very comfortable
-the cord(s?) are soft, light and stands out from the crowd

Cons:
-cord stands out from the crowd
-slightly sibilant and picky with sound source
-strain reliefs on both ends could have been more robust
-might be too boring for some

I was in the market for an analytical in-ear monitor and I saw the reviews for the B2 on the net were mostly positive. I had considered the Etymotic ER4's, but I didn't want to spend $300 when I was fairly happy with my Atrio M8's. Two hours into listening to the B2's and my M8's were happily retired. Even with some EQ tweaking to the M8's, their midrange was lacking (the reason I wanted an analytical set of IEM's). World of difference - the midrange is crystal clear with these, with sparkling detail that was usually masked in the heaviness of the M8's.

I listen to a lot of rock/metal and instrumental music and the midrange was the most important thing for me. Basslines are clear, dual guitar sounds are both audible (wonderful soundstage, BTW) and vocals are incredibly easy to make out, even with higher range power metal vocalists (the Atrios struggled with this). They are perfect for metal if actually hearing everything in the song cleanly is your most important feature. Bass is fine on these - I'm running them through a Digizoid Zo amp and my Cowon players (a D2+ and an X7, currently both with no EQ adjustments) and what is there is deep enough, without penetrating the midrange. Can't really comment on the highs too much, but I have noticed cymbol crashes I wasn't noticing before.

Ear insertion was extremely easy. The Shure E2c foam sleeves I used for my M8's are a perfect fit for these and they rest in the ear better than most IEM's I'm used to. Outside noise is totally blocked out, no sound leakage. The only complaint I have (nitpick) is the cord is easy to get tangled. I have a liking for the cheap look of the black and white cord - not sure why, I just like it.

Buy these if you're serious about actually hearing what is going on in your music AND you want to enjoy it. Other than the cord tangling, the only bad part is having to take them out.

This is my 4th pair of Brainwavz Headphones. It like Apple, you keep wanting to buy the next ones that come out. I am a fan of this company. I have a pair of Pro Alpha's, M2s M3s and now the B2s. These get better and better. I own a pair of Bang and Olufsen A8's and I prefer the B2s. The Highs are crisp and clean and the lows are full and distortion free. If you want bass then you still need to go for the M2's as those pound the low end home. For the music I listen to, Rock, Jazz, Classical, some hip hop, trance, techno and triphop, these are a great all around earphone. The new cabling in is a major upgrade. Its soft and supple, when it rubs against clothing it doesn't make the rubbing noise the older solid black cable used to. But I am not knocking the old cable. I love that too. It was unbreakable. Another great thing about these B2s are the accessories. You get a full 1/4" headphone adapter, an 1/8" to two pin 1/8" for airplanes and the regular accessories that are standard with Brainwavz: extra ear pieces, and the cool round case. The B2s coupled with the the expanding foam ear pieces make these a great substitute for noise canceling headphones at 1/2 the price. I totally recommend these for everyone. I should also mention prior to MP4 Nations's Amazon affiliation I used to buy from them directly and was taken aback by their exemplary customer service. They are responsible and responsive. The best thing about Amazon is you get your items faster.
