Bass is a little punchy, but does not intrude into the mids.

They are also very comfortable and they aren't too tight on your head so you can listen for extended periods of time.

It will not beat those 200-300 dollars headphones, but I can also say those dont beat these one by much as well.

I just received these today, so a few would be quick to point out that I have no burn-in time on them. Which is very true.

Still, out of the box, they have a wonderful sound signature. I look forward to what they will become after many hours of use. At which time I will update my review if needed, though I only see the HM3 getting better with age.

I was lucky enough to get these little beasts for only $26.66, a crazy good price for this kind of sound. The signature is forward and clear. Bass is a little punchy, but does not intrude into the mids. Speaking of Mids, they are wonderfully balanced.

Comfort wise, you really need to bend them a lot to shape them to your head. Not too hard to do though. I have smaller ears, so they are Over-the-Ear for me, but just barely. This causes my ears to get sore as they are slightly smooshed in between the pads. The pads also do make my ears a little warm, but not horribly so. I do wish the pads where oval instead of round, I would also like to find velor replacements.

My quick overview of them.

Sound (for the price) - 8/10

Comfort (for my ears) - 5/10

Price (that I paid) - 10/10

Build Quality (New) - 8/10

***Small update.***

I could not take the awful comfort of it stock. So I took the extra set of pads, took out the padding and retrofit them with the Beyerdynamic EDT 250 Velour Padded Earcushions for DT250, DT280, Sony MDR7506 and V6 Headphones (Pair). Note, this is not a straight replacement as the EDT 250 is oval and the HM3 pads are round. I had to do a LOT of modification.

I love these headphones, awesome bang for your buck here. I had the Dre Beats Studios and I prefer the sound signature of the HM3's over the Beats and you don't need batteries to run them lol; I got these on sale for around $35 (amazon special) and the Beats are $300. They are very light weight but don't let that fool you these baby's can thump and you can feel it when they do. They respond very well to eq'ing I use them on my pc's soundcard Soundblaster Xfi Xtreme Audio using the crystalizer and cmss-3D (surround); so I can really get them thumping (I suggest using a headphone amp for handheld devices etc...). Burn in is really important with these for the mids and highs; I have over 50 hours of burn in and they have really opened up considerably; the Highs get more crisp and bright as time goes on and the mids get more pronounced and full the bass is tight, precise and full bodied (not overpowering). You can hear new details in songs that you've listened to hundreds of times before; great clarity and soundstage. The build quality is great light yet sturdy and solid, the cable is better than any in its class thick and tangle free and Brainwavz also gives you an extra set of ear pads for free; you cant beat the value here. They are also very comfortable and they aren't too tight on your head so you can listen for extended periods of time. They say they are On-Ear but they can fit around a normal size ear easily. My only issue with these is that I wish they would have made the ear cup more oval shape to fit around the ear to make them "around the ear" headphones cause these can easily beat out Bose Triport's/AE2's (I had those aswell) at less then half the price. Listen to "The Glitch Mob - We Swarm" and turn it up (its on YouTube set it to HD) for bass that you can feel you won't be disappointed.

The Brainwavz HM3 is the first attempt by the brainwavz brand to enter the headphone market. I bought the headphone thinking that the brainwavz never let me down, even down to their cheaper IEMS, thereforeI figure I'll give these babies a try. I'm not exactly a headphone fan and only have 2 headphones in my entire life. When I got this one, I thought these are not the best constructed headphone and feels a bit light. But after a few week listening to them, I must say I enjoyed them alot. It will not beat those 200-300 dollars headphones, but I can also say those dont beat these one by much as well. For 70 dollar headphones I can say, I never really heard better. I even use these phones for playing games now as opposed to my steelseries siberia v2. The lightness of the HM3 is an advantage that I can use it longer. and Amazingly quite sturdy. I dont have a headphone case, however I chuck em into my bag so I can use them in the office.

Isoloation is quite good, but using it outside a room or a building u can still hear the background noise quite clear.

as for the sound, These headphones do benefit from burning, even though they already sound rather good out of the box though a bit muddy. After 30-50 hours the mid opened quite a bit, and I love the bass, I think they have the right amount of it. high is also quite good and detailed. If you are familiar with the brainwavz product I agree that the sound signature is similar to the brainwavz M2 however you will be getting more soundstage, details, and quite a nice clarity in the high. I really like how the HM3 sounds.. I listen mostly to jazz and classical, and an occasionally trance and hiphop. Brainwavz HM3 handle those kind of music really well. In shorter word, for me the sound of the HM3 is beautiful.
