5.0 out of 5 stars BRAK IS A BONAFIDE CURE FOR DEPRESSION!
I don't use that title lightly. I inherited my Dad's chemical depression. I fought it for years, with happy-drug this and vitamin-that, and everything you can think of. One day a local radio show here in St. Louis (Dave Glover Show, 97.1Talk) played "Soup On A Stick" during rush hour while I was on my way home from work. My car almost went off the road halfway through...

2.0 out of 5 stars And I thought I was a Brak Fan...
I'll admit, I purchased this CD thinking I was a Brak Fan. Don't get me wrong - I watched Cartoon Planet every week for months straight, then Space Ghost Coast To Coast after CP got shafted.

As for this album: I listened to it twice, then put it away. The guest apperances were by people I don't know or care about. The content was somewhat funny, but skits can't compare...

My car almost went off the road halfway through the song with the line "But that's another Stow-ey!!" The next day the same show played "Things That I Like", and I was in almost in tears. I knew of the Brak Show, and had even seen it once or twice. But I had no idea of the real POWER OF BRAK! I went out and bought this CD and ever since then I have been infectiously singing, humming, or tapping it - and have been SMILING!! LAUGHING!! So far: Depression Drugs - 2 / Brak - 10!!! And no, I'm not making this up. I challenge any depressed person to frown while this thing is playing!!! It's IMPOSSIBLE! So go dip your pig in butter, ride it 'round the playground, and join Brak & I on a trip into forgotten memory, because when you are with Brakky, you are 4 years old again - and none of that adult stress crud has scarred you yet!! Enjoy with big smiles and lemonade! My little girl sings along too, she loves it!!

While working in children's radio, I became quite familiar with the two previous Space Ghost cds. A couple of the songs on those albums were the most requested songs on our show. That was in large part not to Space Ghost, but to his sidekicks Brak and Zorak (I know Zorak is evil, but he's still a sidekick). Now Brak has his own album and true to his style, it's one of the wierdest but most entertaining albums out there.

On this album there is no Space Ghost (though the previous albums carried his name, Brak was the real star) and his singing is not missed. Zorak joins in on several tunes, serving as the straight man to Borak's follies. Several guest artists sing a ditty including The Chieftans, Freddie Prinze, Jr., Diamond Dallas Page, and the uncredited Grape Ape. Brak sings his signature song "Highway 40" with Freddie and many of the songs including the hilarious "Magic Toenail" insure that Brak is a musical artist that should be around for a long time. Only the best can take something like a toenail or rock candy and turn them into beautiful, hilarious, musical mayhem.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is some funny stuff!, March 16, 2000
This review is from: Brak Presents The Brak Album Starring Brak (Audio CD)
Brak is at his all time humorous best with his 1st solo CD, following 2 Cartoon Planet group CDs. Most tracks are from his new hit show, "The Brak Show Starring Brak," and he laughs it up with a few of his old pals.

The humor on this album is sublime. We got it as a gift a couple of years ago and never listened to it. My 4 yo son discovered it and made me play it for him and I just cracked up! We've been listening to it several times a day for the past month and I still haven't tired of it. My 1 yo loves the music and just rocks out and my 8 yo likes figuring out the more subtle jokes. Fun for the whole family!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brak Finally Gets His Own Album!, August 27, 2003

The majority of fans would agree Brak is the star on the 2 Space Ghost albums. Cartoon Network has noticed and has given us an album from everyone's favorite space cat thing? If you liked the Space Ghost albums or enjoyed Brak's songs off Cartoon Planet then you can't go wrong with this album. A must have for all Brak fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars YYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, January 22, 2002
This review is from: Brak Presents The Brak Album Starring Brak (Audio CD)
This is one of the five greatest albums ever (the others being the 2 Space Ghost Albums, Magical Mystery Tour, and Gorillaz). I cannot express enough how much I love this album, that's a lot coming from someone who just reads and listens to music all day. I am 13, my brothers are 5 and 16, and my parents are 45; we all love this album.
My two favorites are: "I Like Hubcaps" and "I'm a Cucumber". "I'm a Cucumber" is an ode to Piccolo (for any DBZ fans. If you are sane, actually...no. If you are anything but sane, you will love "Brak Presents the Brak Album Starring Brak".
To say something about myself (for all who may be interested) is: "I like hubcaps, I like laundry, I like waffles, I like antfarms, I like recess, picnics, and eatin' pork 'n beans.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Space Ghost-Related Album Yet!, October 17, 2000

THIS CD IS BETTER THAN A COLD BEER ON A HOT X'MAS MORNING!! I think this is the best SGC2C-related albums, probably due to the fact that it starred lil' ol' Brak. My favorite tracks are "I'll Tell Me Ma", "Really Cool Song", "Smell Ya' Later/Getta Job", "I've Got You Under My Drawers", and "Rock Candy". The funniest one is probably "We're Buds", because instead of having Jo Dee Messina sing with Brak, he sang the girl part, too. I highly reccommend this CD to any SGC2C, Cartoon Planet, or Brak & Zorak fan.

P.S.

In the foreword by Brak, he reveals his REAL name to be Voldemar H. Guerta.(FWI)

5.0 out of 5 stars Brak Makes a Really Cool Album!, July 18, 2000

Hey, everybuddy! I love Brak a lot and his new album, "Brak Presents the Brak Album Starring Brak" is awesome. I first heard of Brak way back in '94 on Space Ghost Coast to Coast. I would watch Cartoon Planet all the time until it went off the air. I've gotta say this album is a lot better than the first two Space Ghost albums, which I have. I love the two shows that Brak did in Feb. and Mar. for this album. This is one of my favorite albums ever! I love the opener, "Really Cool Song". A track a blast a lot on the CD player is Zorak's "Smell You Later", although referring to Brak as 'too ugly for TV'. A great track, "I've Got You Under My Drawers", is one of the best Brak songs I ever heard. "We Like Girls" is also great, especially the video when they blur out Zorak's birthday suit! "Ohio" has become a favorite of mine the first time I heard it. "I Like Hubcaps" is awesome. Especially the 'fallin' on my head' part. I love the remake of "I Love You, Baby" with Monica which should have been on the album. The duets, "Highway 40" with Freddie Prinze, Jr., "I'll Tell Me Ma" with The Chieftains, and "Evil Is Only Skin Deep" with DDP, are all cool. The skits are also wonderful. My favorite ones are "Count Brakula" and "Cowboy Buddy". Another one I love from Part 2 is "The Umpire Strikes Brak", where Brak wears a jersey that says 'My Sox'. The last two pix on here is the awesome "Rock Candy" and the backwards "Soup on a Stick". Great for all occasions! My fellow brak lovers, this album is for you!

4.0 out of 5 stars Brak is back! (Frax is frad!), July 5, 2000
This review is from: Brak Presents The Brak Album Starring Brak (Audio CD)
When I first heard that the awesomely funny Brak was going to have his own album, I was mortified. No, I mean happy! This album is not as good as the two Space Ghost albums, (which come as highly recommended as you can get), but there are quite a few standouts. Like "Highway 40 Revisited" with Freddie Prinze Jr. Or "I'm a Cucumber." Even the announcer who interrupts Brak is funny "And now, on with my pants." (you'll have to get this album to understand that) In conclusion, this album seems to be more suited to an established Brak fan, but this would certainly be a good starting point to discovering a great talent from the planet Idaho.
