I was a little skeptical, but I timed my two rottweilers when they ate with normal bowls (45 seconds!) and with the bowls it took them about 3 1/2 minutes. So, I suspect it would help with bloating problems, but the biggest reason for geting it was to reduce gas. I am SO HAPPY we got these bowls. Farting is WAY down (by as much as 75% in my rough estimation). I got the two big black bowls and my dogs are 145 and 125 lbs. My big boy eats slower since his snout is bigger, my "little" girl tends to get her nose in there and eats faster. The blue bowl may have been better for her. The design really does keep them from gulping their food. In addition, the bowls have no rubber feet to keep them from moving when the dogs eat. I actually let the bowls scoot around as it helps them to slow down even more. Since the bowls move around more the faster they try to eat, they have to actually eat slower to keep the bowls from moving around.

For any dog that woofs down their food, this is a must have. It slows down there eating tremendously. I have large one for my Rhodesian Ridgeback and a medium bowl for my Chocolate Lab.

This is a FABULOUS product... why didn't anyone invent this sooner? It keeps our dog from wolfing his food and throwing up later, because he ate too fast. It needs a mat under it though, because it's not a heavy bowl and will scoot all over the floor. Our dog now lies down with the bowl cradled in his paws and eats leisurely... for the FIRST time in his life!

With a dog the size of a small horse...this bowl just wasn't big enough. My mastiff's muzzle is just to big to fit between the pegs and the side of the bowl, granted his is a 200lb dog. He had to lick the food up the side of the bowl. Sure did slow him down though.

I think this would be a good product for dogs up to 100-120lbs. My female mastiff is 150lbs and her muzzle is just a bit big for it as well.

We ordered these bowls after an emergency trip to the vet in which our older dog,Sasha,inhaled a piece of food.The brake-fast bowl really has slowed him down.He can't inhale his food in 5 seconds like he used to. We ordered one for our puppy,Sputnik,as well.It's great because our puppy has to really work at getting all the food and the bowl moves around so he keeps nudging it around the kitchen. This may be annoying to some but we find it amusing.We put a mat under the bowl for our older dog to keep the bowl from moving.The large bowls are huge and not as attractive as the ceramic bowls we used to have but besides that,they are great.They serve their purpose quiet well.

I purchased this bowl for a St. Bernard who would eat from her dish in less than a minute, then sit and wait for our other dog to finish what he wanted so she could clean up. With the brake-fast bowl the St. Bernard takes 5-10 minutes to finish her food, and it appears that it is too much work for her to get the last couple of bites sometime--so she not only leaves our other dogs food alone but sometimes does not finish her own.

I thought this was a great product to keep my lab mix from eating his dinner too fast. It worked great... until he started to eat the bowl. I replaced it with the metal version. Only came in a Medium, quite a bit heavier and more expensive, but so far, appears indestructable.

This bowl is fantastic. Ever since my Labrador was a puppy she inhaled her food...I tried several things..one of which was a large flat surfaced low sided dish. She eventually figured that out. I have had to perform the Heimlich on her..yeah, it was bad. I originally got the medium sized bowl because back then there was not alot of description and I went by food volume. It worked and when I wanted to reorder a new one I realized that her nose would fit better and she would still be challenged by the maze. LOVE IT! This is easy to clean and because of the thin material not too heavy. It takes her longer to eat and no more indigestion and Heimlich.

I bought this bowl to slow down feeding time for a 60 pound mixed breed dog I was fostering. Without the bowl he would gobble several cups of dry food in just seconds flat and I was afraid he was going to suffer bloat if this did not get controlled. There was no "learning curve" with this bowl - just immediate results. From the first use the dog was forced to slow down. This even improved with subsequent feedings because he came to expect that eating was just going to take longer. This bowl does exactly what it claims to do - "makes dogs slow down to eat". Highly recommended.

I feel like I'm torturing my poor Newfoundland with this bowl! Since she can't fit her schnozz between the posts,she has to lap with her tongue to get anything at all. She winds up flicking the bits of kibble all over the deck--I put the bowl on a chair since I've fed her at eye level her whole life. I guess this is the POINT of the bowl--to slow them down--but I'm wondering if this bowl is too big? Too small? She can only reach the food by sticking out her tongue like an anteater. The first time I tried it with 4 spears of asparagus--that took her about 3 minutes to eat! This is a good idea in theory--my first Newf died of stomach bloat at age 6--but I feel like I'm torturing my poor pup. I'll probably just give it to her daycare and let them figure out which dog it might work best for.
