5.0 out of 5 stars I am awestruck
This is my favorite James Wright book. These poems are stunning in their visual images and breathtaking in their emotional impact. I am completely hooked.

3.0 out of 5 stars Read the fine print
Lesson learned is to search everything about these items for sale. To my surprise I got a hard bound book I can't read! It's tiny....maybe 2.5" x 3.25" and 1/4" inch thick. The font is miniscule....maybe a 1. I doubt anyone can read it without a magnifying glass. This fact was NOT readily apparent and I am greatly disappointed. First bum sale I've had with...

Let the buyer beware....or as my title suggests, slow down and read the fine print. Good thing I have other poems from James Wright.

1.0 out of 5 stars An insulting reissue of a great book, September 14, 2008
By
Be warned: This book is a MINATURE version, and I mean minature. It is literally 2 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches in size. The text is so small that it is almost unreadable, and certainly not enjoyable to read.

Do yourself a favor and buy the Collected Poems instead.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it, November 22, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I'm young and my vision isn't too bad, but the book is a mini-book, and the font is about a 4 point. I regret not reading the reviews of this book before I bought it, so buyer beware!

1.0 out of 5 stars Awesome poems - Awful Edition, May 8, 2011
Apparently the best way to honor the 50th anniversary release of a Pulitzer prize winning poet's book is to publish it so freakishly small that people can barely read it.

I guess they forgot that some of the people who read this poetry when it was first released in the early sixties are now in their late sixties and were not gifted with bionic vision...

2.0 out of 5 stars The branch will not break, poems by James Wright, May 13, 2009

I must say, this book was so very tiny, I thought it was a joke. Don't get me wrong, it is very cute and adorable but at 3 1/4 inches long, it makes for a better conversation piece than reading matteral! I've always been told you can't judge a book by it's cover, so I guess I'll give it a try...okay, so I'm trying to give it a try, but the print is so little, it's giving me a head ache! I'm just glad I'm not a little 'ole lady with bad eye sight, I would never be able to read it! How many of this teeny tiny books are out there? Bye for now, I'm gonna go see if I can find the 'teeny tiny woman' so she will have something to put in her teeny tiny cabnet. Have a nice day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dark Midwestern Beauty, November 16, 2003
This review is from: The Branch Will Not Break: Poems (Wesleyan Poetry Series) (Paperback)
James Wright is a modern American master who wrote poems that are accessible yet transcendent. His works are centered in the Midwest of his birth, yet they resonate like the Chinese lyrics of Tu Fu and Li Po. This is book in which he truly found his own voice.
