Editorial Reviews

Review

"Vale is mesmerizing...she flaunts it with enigmatic lyrics and a NIN-escque sound." --METAL EDGE Magazine

Product Description

Influenced by the urban chaos that makes New York what it is, Jessica Vale's rock-noir inflected sound captures the essence of the city. In addition to the Gotham city, Jessica drew from her extensive travels for this record. Most notably, a trip to the former Yugoslavia inspired the album's gut-wrenching ballad, "Night in Sarajevo".

5.0 out of 5 stars Bringing New Life to An Old Vibe, October 16, 2007
By
Grebok SOD (Beyond the Universe) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Brand New Disease (Audio CD)
Vale & Co. have outdone themselves with their sophmore effort. The Sex Album had a good gimmick, but it left you wondering if they could do it again without the tricks and whistles that got them on the map (albeit good ones).

Have no fear, here they've created something far and away superior to their first effort. Technically, musically, and in overall mood, this album has what you're looking for.

It has just a taste of the old sounds you don't hear so much these days like a young Siouxie Sioux or Johnette Napolitano; but still brings something new and distinct to it that makes it all Vale.

Don't miss this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Aimee Mann meets Darkwave, May 19, 2008

I really like this album and it's quite playable all the way through.
If you like Portishead or Aimee Mann (Til Tuesday) you'll like this.
It's exactly like a darker Aimee Mann..
Probably you won't hear it on the radio. Jessica Vale is NYC alternative.
I like goth rock, darkwave and goth metal so I like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't wait for the new one, October 16, 2007
This review is from: Brand New Disease (Audio CD)
I've been waiting for the new one and it was worth the wait. Jessica Vale never disappoints. It only gets better and better.
