Product Description

The BrandTech 230V ME 4C NT oil-free dry chemistry diaphragm vacuum pump has a maximum pumping speed of 2.30 cubic feet per minute (cfm) at 50 Hertz (Hz), an ultimate vacuum of 70 millibar (mbar), a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) sandwich diaphragm, PTFE valves, a single-stage pump, and two carbon fiber–reinforced ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) pump heads. It provides continuous high flow rates down to the pump’s ultimate vacuum and performs well in applications that do not require deep vacuum levels. It can be used when pumping corrosive and aggressive gases and vapors in vacuum ovens and when filtering and concentrating solvents with low boiling points.

The BrandTech 230V ME 4C NT dry chemistry diaphragm pump does not use oil in the flow path, which decreases the risk of contamination from lubricating or sealing oil. The absence of oil also reduces pump maintenance since there is no oil to monitor, change, or dispose of during or after use. The PTFE sandwich diaphragm has a working life of 10,000 to 15,000 hours. PTFE valves and diaphragm provide good chemical resistance. The single-stage pump with two carbon fiber–reinforced ETFE pump heads provides good chemical resistance and high flow rates, even down to the pump’s ultimate vacuum. The New Technology (NT) design provides a quiet, low-vibration drive system; a simplified valve mounting system for quick maintenance; easy-to-clean, smooth surfaces; and a reduced-leakage sealing system. All pump components that come in contact with the pumped medium—including the diaphragm, valves, pump heads, and internal tubing and fittings—are made of fluorocompounds, which provides a chemical-resistant flow path. The BrandTech ME 4C NT diaphragm vacuum pump should not be used for pumping the following: liquids, aspirated dust or particles, substances which may form deposits in the pump, unstable substances, explosive substances, self-flammable substances, orand substances which are flammable without air.

Pumps evacuate an enclosed area and move a substance from one location to another. Pump choices are guided by the specific application and required substance compatibility. Diaphragm vacuum pumps (also called membrane pumps) are used in industrial and laboratory settings such as chemical analysis labs, water treatment facilities, and oil refineries. Diaphragm pumps expand and contract an interior diaphragm in order to draw a substance into the pump on one stroke and discharge it on the next stroke. The diaphragm forms an oil-free chamber that isolates the medium from the pumping mechanism, making diaphragm pumps a good choice when contamination is a concern. Ultimate vacuum is the deepest level of vacuum a pump can achieve. Flow rate (also called pumping speed) is a measure of the volume and speed at which a substance is drawn into a pump at its inlet. Compared to a similarly rated single-head pump, a pump with multiple pump heads connected in series will have a lower ultimate vacuum, and a pump with multiple pump heads connected in parallel will offer higher flow rates. A pump can have a mixture of pump heads that are connected in series and parallel, providing both improved vacuum levels and higher flow rates. Back pressure is a measure of the resistance at the outlet of the pump and can be damaging to the pump. Diaphragm pumps have constant flow rates regardless of the vacuum level, but as the vacuum pressure drops, the amount of mass moved through the pump decreases.
