It's great to leaf through.

I know there are a good deal of biographical books out on the market which are beautifully done and offer a ton of information on the artist that is being covered.

I love sketchbooks, as an artist myself I have tons of these things that comprise of my doodles and quick ideas, but many sketchbooks on the market not all but many are simply books containing just drawings. Albeit beautiful pieces of unfinished to finished art, not many actually delve into the artist themselves. I know there are a good deal of biographical books out on the market which are beautifully done and offer a ton of information on the artist that is being covered. That being said Brooklyn based Picturebox released what is probably one of the most entertaining sketchbooks ever, Brandon Graham's Walrus. Here we get to truly see Brandon's personality, wit and dare I say kink all sketched out in his signature style. If you are a fan and follow his blog you will then know what to expect in the pages of Walrus. If not what are you waiting for this is improv, free style rap, a fun loving romp in comic book style. Buy this sketchbook!

I preordered this a while ago just on his name alone after thoroughly loving King City. Received it today after throwing in some laundry and "read" through it. At first, I was a little disappointed that it wasn't a story (my bad, I didn't even bother looking up a preview or whatever.) But as I got deeper into it, I warmed up to it a lot. It's a sketchbook and naturally, if something hits you, it's probably a coincidence, as the thing probably wasn't originally made to be published. But as anyone who has read King City knows, he's a charming m-f-er and has a great style, so there's a good chance many things in it will make you laugh or strike you as awesome. (Yeah, I know I referenced only King City twice and after reading this, I went and ordered a couple more of his books.)

This wouldn't necessarily be the book to turn on a newcomer, unless that newcomer was particularly cool and open-minded, but it's worthwhile for those who just wanna get to know the artist better. A good one to leave on the table and flip through when you feel like it.

5 stars because it doesn't really need a star rating. It seems risky publishing a sketch book, but I'm glad he did it.

It is a very intimate look on Brandon's life with his Girlfriend. Some of the pictures included are drawn by her! This contains some adult Content and is in a mostly non-linear format, with a few exceptions. Diary format with brainstormed ideas.

This book was so great to look at and experience. There is stuff from Brandon's older work, fan art, and just cool little drawings.

Walrus was one of the funnest artbooks I ever had the pleasure of flipping through. I loved everything about this book, especially getting a peek into the mind of one of my favorite artists in the industry. Usually I don't get too many artbooks because they're badly put together, but this one was put together with a lot of care. If your familiar with Brandon Graham's work , pick up this gem of an artbook...like right now :)
