About the Author

Joshua Fuld was born in Manhasset, New York and grew up on Long Island in the triumvirate of Plainview, Syosset, and Woodbury (arranged alphabetically so as not to hurt anyone's feelings). Amazingly, he survived the mean hallways of Syosset High School (picture One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, but with many more Mercedes) and moved upstate to Hobart College where he majored in English (imagine that). Fuld's entire adult life has been consumed with a singular passion; bringing the adventures of Brandon Sparks to life. In sacrifice to this pursuit, and to the creation of the entire seven book series, Fuld has turned his back on a promising career in television. Fuld's ambition is to bring children back to reading, and Brandon Sparks and the Hidden Sun is the first step in his master plan.

I just discovered this book! In all honesty, I picked up "Brandon Sparks," because of it's cover, and it turned out to be the find of the year!!! This is a terrific sci-fi adventure, told by an author who can really spin a tale. It's book one of seven, and although it's a complete story in itself, it's great that to know more stories will be coming out regularly. The book is definitely geared towards kids, but the writing was good enough to keep me rapt -- and I'm 30! (admittedly a young 30). The idea of a 12-year-old kid being unavoidably thrust into the role of Starship Captain was pulled off flawlessly! I love the adolescent crew. The action scenes were tight and the alien foes are extremely lively and unique! The best character, by far, is Brandon's house computer, who's also his best friend. In all, I was just really happy with what a complete world this is. I can't wait for more.

I have to say I am very impressed by this first time author. This book has everything that would stimulate a child's imagination and entertain even the most die-hard reader. Space battles, artificial intelligence, good vs. evil, and so much more. The rag tag cast of characters are very endearing and memorable. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who's looking to read the next great adventure. Truly a step beyond Mr. Potter.
