Wanted to name my daughter Brandy (After the song of course) but "Karlee" won out on a toin toss with my wife.

Always was interested in this "Looking Glass" band. One hit wonder? not really after hearing the the ten tracks on this CD.

After one listen, you'll probably like 60-70% of it (if, you of course like the Brandy hit). Many of the other songs of similar style.

Similar to? Sounds somewhat like Stonebolt, and some tracks sound somewhat like blood sweat & tears. Lite pop music. Apparently their live show was much heavier.

Weakness: This band (like many bands) seems to be split by two personalities within it. Which makes the direction not too focussed. Are they lite pop, R&B, or a little heavier??

Elliot Lurie made all this happen. (The obvious talent). By the way, Brandy was apparently written about a girl whos name was 'Randy.' Brandy definitely sounds more radio friendly.

While I agree that Brandy and Jimmy Loves Mary-Anne are great songs, I like the rest of the album as well. It brings back a fresher, lighter time when the world seemed like a friendly and happy place!

Another reviewer said it best, it's the kind
of music when the world was a little more
innocent, and not as jaded. "Brandy" is a
guilty pleasure, its a great summer songs that
evokes the early 1970's, the beach, and love.
Jimmy Loves Maryanne is great as well. As others
have noted this was essentialy a harder rocking
boogie band, than is evident on their big hits.
But what a time it was, I would also suggest from
the same time "Dancing in The Moonlight"-King Harvest,
"Go All The Way" Raspberries, & "Long Cool Woman" -Hollies.

"Brandy" is - simply put - one of the finest songs to come out of the early seventies. This one's got it all: raw emotion coupled with story-telling genius and musical virtuosity. It is in Looking Glass' seductive lyrics that one catches the essence of an entire era and the perfume of an entire ethic. After hearing LG, no one can ever tell me the music of the sixties wasn't going somewhere.

Brandy was a great song and a great girl, but take time to listen to Jimmy Loves Mary-Ann especially if your a musician because the chord progressions are nice.

Brandy is one of my favorite albums. I bought it for the song Brandy and fell in love with the entire album. I have close connections with the sea and sailors and the song has always hit home for me.

I would consider this CD "Easy Listening" compared to what I usually listen to. It's not heavy, it's real smooth. And of course, always loved "Brandy" and singing along to it. It always reminded me of "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" which is a wonderful movie.

"Brandy" is fine, catchy tune with a story to tell. Great song, but not all this band was capable of.
"Jimmy Loves Mary-Anne" is another of the same.
But "Sweet Something" (on Golden Classics
Looking Glass) and "For Skipper" are jazzy and breezy works of art. The folks who say that all there is to this group is "Brandy" and "Jimmy" are missing something special because their ears are tuned to Top 40 or "Classic Rock."
Pay attention! Take time to savor the talent and musical vision of this group. Don't believe these two songs are just filler (like some of their other tunes).
While this band never broke through, they deserved more encouragement for what they were capable of, the art of "Sweet Something" and "For Skipper."
Too bad that these two songs are not on the same album as they were on the vinyl release "Subway Serenade" -- which I have from the early 1970s. These two songs are timeless gems.

My name is Brandi, my mother was a coctail waitress and also a "hippie" when I was born. She fell in love with the song and the rest was history. This song was played for me at my wedding by my husband. This is my all time favorite.

I never had or heard this particular album before but if you like Looking Glass try to find a cd (or album) called "Subway Serenade". It has "Jimmy Loves Marry-Anne" on it but all of the songs are awesome ( I like them anyway ).
