5.0 out of 5 stars Puppy Food, March 5, 2004

This is a great little gift from SP to their fans. The CD has everything a fan could want: Great artwork, CD-ROM features (including a video of Spasmolytic), never-released material, and great live performances of classic SP songs (excluding the beginning of Tin Omen, which for some reason sounds like you're in a sewer). The older material that never saw the light of day (Jackhammer, Splasher, Double Cross) are not necessarily strong Puppy songs, but they are all great peeks into the inner workings of the band at their early stages. Since I love this kind of fodder, I was more than pleased with this release. If you're not a big Skinny Puppy fan, this is probably not for you. Instead, check out Cleanse, Fold and Manipulate, or perhaps Rabies. If you like what you hear, then please do continue to collect material from one of the more influential industrial/electro bands of our time.

5.0 out of 5 stars this is great stuff, December 21, 2000

if you have no idea what Skinny Puppy is......then for the love of Ogre!...be patient. The first few listens are probably going to be odd or somewhat painful. I usually stay away from things that have to grow on me.....but I was drawn into them somehow...probably curiosity. IF! you have some kind of an open mind with music...you will aquire the taste for Skinny Puppy....and all it's wonderful glory!.

my favorite tracks include: Grave Wisdom, Tin Omen, TFWO, and Double Cross...all the tracks are awesome, And I would go so far as to say that this collection is a proper introduction to Skinny Puppy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Grrrrrr, June 10, 2000
This review is from: Brap (Audio CD)
If you prefer the happy happy pop style of funkervogt, maybe you should go with the previous reveiwers advice (or better still you could do the world of good taste a favour and slit your wrists). This CD is not for those new to skinny puppy, it is for the real fans who are not just interested in a catchy hook and a nice beat. While the music on this CD is not incredible (although the live version of last call is wonderful, especially the end) The multimedia section is very nice (and quite extensive too, about 20 video's, studio and live altogether). If you are new to skinny puppy however, it would probably be a wiser idea to get either Too Dark Park, VIVIsecVI or the newly released singles collect. In conclusion, this album is definately worth it if your computer can handle multimedia, but as a music CD alone, it is an aquired taste.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not your usual Puppy, June 24, 2008

This CD, specifically #3, is incredible. When I put this on, I always end up sitting perfectly placed in front of my speakers, reveling in it's, for lack of a better word, beauty. It is fantastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brap On, March 28, 2000

I am a hardcore Puppy fan, and was thoroughly enthusiastic while experiencing this cd. The multimedia aspects were very interesting. There are live clips and video clips and pictures. You could see what the tours were like, as well as some of the news and controversy the band has had. The artwork from Too Dark Park comes to life and wraps itself around you. There are so many things to click on. If you're just listening to the music, you will love the live tracks on the first cd. SP were great live, and you could almost feel their presense with the awesome power of the production. The second cd has alot of more ambient sounds from SP, still very powerful stuff, and an absolute must-listen-to.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for Puppy fans, October 15, 1999

There is nothing wrong with this double-CD set. In fact I would have bought it if all that was on it was "Uranus Cancelled". The chance to hear pre-mixed synth lines from Knowhere is the best thing to happen to me as a fan of Last Rights! Proves SP does care about not only about it's fans, but more importantly, it's music!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars To me, SP's defining compilation. Everything is superior..., July 15, 2009

This review is from: Brap (Audio CD)
I was conflicted between buying this or bites(both are my favorites). I had listened to both and I felt bites has better songs, yet, I believe all together the multi-media stuff, amazing cover art, and wide range of songs made this a better buy. I got it used, in very good condition for $2.58. I truly love this album, it is amazing.
To begin the cover style is very grim and it is by far their most interesting. My only issue with the case is that the cds may fall out. I see that the two flaps are designed to hold the cds down, but on some instances they may fall out. The songs are from various releases, and therefore, they all vary in sound. The songs on vol. 3 to me make a deeper impression though. The more ambient tracks such as Carry, Guilty, Jackhammer, and Splasher definitely stand out for me. Also Brap(song) from remission, Last Call, Dead Doll, and Deadlines from Bites are all superb. Vol.4 is very good too, however I prefer the older Skinny Puppy. Brap is a must have, it should be bought new, because the used copy I got had some case ware and this is classic that should be kept in good condition.

This has to be my second fav SP cd, right behind "The Process".
I find it very relaxing, except for Jackhammer of course, and thoroughly enjoy the epitome of SP's unique style. Excellent cd for listening to, if you enjoy evening walks in rain.

5.0 out of 5 stars Skinny Puppy At It's Best, October 7, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Brap (Audio CD)
Brap was the first Skinny Puppy album I purchased, many years ago. It made me a true fan and I can honestly say that I cannot find one band that can come close to the type of talent that SP has. Disc 2 has a harder darker edge from Too Dark Park and Last Rights. Disc 1 is the one that I prefer, it is a trip into another dimension and I highly recommend listening to it from track 2 to the end. It is mainly sounds with little voice interuptions and it seems like the songs just flow into each other. If had to pick favorites from Brap I would say All Eyes, The Soul That Creates, Dead Doll, and Last Call.
