The liner notes on this Brasilian import CD state that the budget for this album was approximately $200,000, which is a staggeringly huge amount, especially for 1977-78. But this is definitely Sergio's lushest production from his Elektra years, so maybe it's correct.

Sergio maintains a fine balance between lush pop ("Bridges," which charted in the Philippines, and "Midnight Lovers," which includes some gorgeous multi-tracked harmonies), Brasilian jazz ("Misturada," one of his finest instrumental outings, and "Tiro Cruzado", a very funky piece previously done by Jobim and Miucha), as well as some proto-disco material ("One More Lie" and "That's Enough For Me.").

This album basically fell flat in the American market--by the time Sergio released his next, and last, Elektra album (the lamentable "Magic Lady"), he had been "demoted" from the Butterfly label to the budget standard red Elektra label. But this penultimate release from his first Elektra stint is a gorgeous and worthwhile album for all Mendes fans.

I was looking for this album to be recorded on CD for years!

I purchased this album almost 30 years ago on vinyl and after the CD format came out I couldnt find this particular album for years. Then a few months ago doing a search on your website I finally found out that this particular CD HAD been recorded back in 02.

The technical quality is excellent and it brings back fond memories.

Late 70's came back to me like a flash. I used to hear this on the airwave when I was young. stuff like Waters of March, Bridges, Midnight Lover & That's enough for me are a tremendous vocal rhythm that made Sergio Mendez a fixture in Latin-Jazz and Soulful Samba. He's on top of his game.

This album contains one of the best and most forgotten examples of Latin/Brazilian dance rhythms to have EVER made the crossover into Pop (70's, but timeless) music. The song "One More Lie", alone, is worth the price of the entire record. Beautiful double female vocals, over an infectious beat, and driven on by the horn section, this song BEGS to be danced to. Also, "Midnight Lovers" is a stand-out due, again, largely to the two GORGEOUS female lead harmonies. Awesome!

I originally bought this album when it came out in 1985 or 1986. It was always one of my very favorite albums of all times. I still have the album, but nothing to play it on. I haven't heard it probably since 1987. I recently purchased the MP3 version, and I must say it still stands out as one of the best!!! And surprisingly so, I still remember the words. The vocals, harmonies still are some of the best I've ever heard on any song. "One More Lie" alone is worth the price, pure 80's pop/soul with that great Sergio Mendes Brazilian beat!

This is a very enjoyable Brazilian Jazz album by Sergio Mendes issued originally in 1978 and digitally remastered in 2002; this was his "North American" album released in that year; his "South American" one was Pele.
Both of them are a bit "weaker" to what Sergio Mendes and his groups had demonstrated years past, but still very enjoyale.
Songs like Misturada, That's Enough for Me, One More Lie, Bridges (Travessia) and Waters of March (Aguas de Marco) aired constantly on Jazz Radio Stations worlwide in the late 70's and early 80's with a fair success.

If you collect Sergio's music, this is a must-have; if you are into Brazilian Jazz or Jazz in general, this is a good album for you

This album is a typical blend of brazilian music and modern jazz. The vocals are exquisite and to me this album is an evergreen. When it first came out - almost 20 years ago - I bought it on vinyl. Now, having acquired the CD, I am amazed how contempory the music is. Sergio Mendes has still got it indeed!
