Product Description

Brass coffee mill with hand carved design. Brass, which is obtained by amalgamating copper and zinc, is durable, hard, and yet easly workable, which made it a prime metal to use in ship making, jewelry, and accessories. Since it is easily hammered compared to the bronze, it has been used in household utensils and cups, bowls, and pans, and it has also been used decoratively in lighting due to its similarity with gold. NOT dishwasher safe. Turkish: Pirinç üzerine işleme yapılarak dizayn edilmiş geleneksel, topuzlu kahve değirmeni, işlevselliğini otantik şıklığıyla birleştiriyor. Elde yıkama önerilir. Cannot ship to Canada

This is an awesome pepper grinder. I have gone through several pepper grinders in the past and they have all broken in the end. I've had this Turkish Coffee Grinder for about 8 years now and it is still going strong. It can take a beating, I have dropped it many times on my hard tiled floor. Might even get another one to grind my spices in.

I got this as a pepper grinder and it does a fantastic job. It is durable and attractive. The bottom bolt gave us a little trouble at first until we realized that it was a little crooked. It's all good now.

BTW These work FAR better than actual "pepper grinders" and they last forever.

We bought this brass coffee mill because at least one other person who purchased this item said that they used it and it worked well. Most Americans aren't used to this kind of grinder, so we figured the "decorative purposes" description was meant to sell the item to those who'd never use it for grinding.

We got it and I wrote a rave review, even though my brother had to adjust the gears to get it to work. After a couple of weeks it stopped grinding and there was no more room for adjustments.

I wrote to the company asking if they could tell us how to "turn it into a real grinder" (didn't ask them to take it back nor give us another) -- and their response was, "As is indicated on the title of this item, this grinder is 'Decorative Only.'"

They're right! That's what it says. But since they haven't bothered to correct reviewers who say it works as a grinder, and they're supposedly a conduit to the craftspeople, how hard could it have been for them to ask a couple of questions and then say, "but here's how you might be able to fix it." Or, "but here's another option that's meant to be used" (and maybe even "here's a coupon code").

Not impressed with Tulumba. And this grinder should definitely not be purchased by anyone who wishes to use it as a grinder. Shame, too, since it's so well made, otherwise. Why would someone put this much effort into a "fake grinder?" The only answer we can come up with is that the "decorative grinders" are defectives. Very pretty, but who needs a decorative grinder...
