Book Description

April 20, 1978
It's bad enough for a teen-age boy to wake up with amnesia, strange burns on his legs, and even stranger nightmares. But when a creepy stranger claiming to be his father tried to remove him from the hospital, his adventure was just beginning -- unless, of course, the adventure had already happened.

More About the Author

Marion Eleanor Zimmer was born in Albany, NY, on June 3, 1930, and married Robert Alden Bradley in 1949. Mrs. Bradley received her B.A. in 1964 from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, then did graduate work at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1965-67.
She was a science fiction/fantasy fan from her middle teens. She had written as long as she could remember, but wrote only for school magazines and fanzines until 1952, when she sold her first professional short story to VORTEX SCIENCE FICTION. She wrote everything from science fiction to Gothics, but is probably best known for her Darkover novels and for her Arthurian novel, THE MISTS OF AVALON.
In addition to her novels, Mrs. Bradley edited magazines, amateur and professional, including Marion Zimmer Bradley's FANTASY Magazine, which she started in 1988. She also edited an annual anthology called SWORD AND SORCERESS, which is still published annually under the title MARION ZIMMER BRADLEY'S SWORD AND SORCERESS.
She died in Berkeley, California on September 25, 1999, four days after suffering a major heart attack.

a wonderful story for young people who want to escape, as we all do in our teen years, our parents don't understand us, and our brat sister is a pain. Here a young man does it!

Makes you think about home, and family.

4.0 out of 5 stars OK, But Dated & Not Much Plot, April 23, 2009

This review is from: The Brass Dragon (Paperback)
A young man wakes up in a hospital bed in Abilene, Texas with amnesia. After a hundred pages of being stalked by unknown entities, he gets another bump on the head and remembers that he is Barry Cowan of Berkeley, California, and that he spent the last year stuck in a shelter on Mars with Karsten and his father Varzil (MZB really liked that name didn't she?) after their flying saucer crashed.

This book is easy to read and so G-Rated it would be perfect for a young reader. More experienced readers will likely be disappointed by the lack of plot and action, and the diffident first person narration.

Warning - If you buy this book, flip through all the pages first. Mine was missing 30 pages in the middle.

5.0 out of 5 stars I found a copy of "The Brass Dragon", February 20, 2000

I remembered bits and pieces of the book from reading it years ago, but did not remember the name. I was sooooo excited to find it in a used bookstore and be able to read it again. The book begins with the main character having amnesia. You really feel what he is going through trying to find out what has happened. I loved finding things out along with the character. The mystery unfolds in a chilling and exciting way. This book is one that is really hard to put down, even when you've read it before. I hope others can find it so they can enjoy it as much as I did.
