NOT the soundtrack!, July 16, 2006
This review is from: Brass Fantasia 1 Totoro (Original Soundtrack - Japanimation) (Audio CD)
While a great disc, this is misrepresented as the soundtrack, while in actuality is a compilation of the music from Miyazaki's animation works arranged and performed by a brass quintet. Good music, just not what's advertised.

Best Miyazaki soundtrack, April 8, 2000
This review is from: Brass Fantasia 1 Totoro (Original Soundtrack - Japanimation) (Audio CD)
I'm surprise that no one have reviewed this masterpiece. Ofthe 20-30 movie soundtracks I have. This is definitely on my top3(the other two right now are A Clockwork Orange and Danny Elfman's Nightmare before Christmas, in case you are wondering.)
If you like Princess Mononoke's soundtrack, you HAVE TO get this. I really think its a wonderful piece of sound. I don't have many percise music language to descript the soundtrack. But this CD gives me these strange experiences that every time I listen to it, I will alway tell myself, "this is a great CD!" at least once.
I mean this is kind of enthusiasm you have when you get your hands on a new CD. The unpredictability and fleshness live on. On the other hand, I don't listen to it continuously. I think it have a complete and live "closure" in the end that provoke you stop and think. It's not a cult sound that get in your head instintly and refuse to leave like I'm playing "Nightmare" right now.
I have gotten so many good advice from amazon that I decide to write the comment in here instead of usenet or epinion.com.
