With a high-speed, 7,800-rpm motor, a pivoting head that adjusts to the face's contours, and a three-stage cutting system, this cord/cordless shaver delivers an extra-close shave in a hurry. This shaver shaves well, better than my old Braun 5525 which it replaced. I paid a lot more for the 5525 which was a premium model in its day. There are plusses to the 5614, a NiMH battery system for long charges, water washable shavehead (works well), and well that's about it. This is a pretty basic shaver, though top of the new FlexXP line.

Negatives include a poor storage case design (the cord does NOT fit in it) and a near useless trimmer (maybe I am using it wrong?, the 5525 trimmer was excellent). These opinions are offered from a seasoned Braun shaver user after a week with the new shaver.

After two weeks of use (on one charge!), I think this is a fine shaver and great deal for the price. It shaves well and quickly, easily, painlessly, and the cleanup is great under the faucet. Negatives mentioned above are still valid, though trimmer is a tad better than I originally thought.

Daytona's review has an error, the charge will last 50 minutes, not 50 HOURS!

After the battery on my Norelco "lift and cut" triple rotary shaver died, I decided to go back to a Braun Foil shaver. Now I'm glad I did. The decision wasn't easy considering all the different Braun shavers that are available!
This shaver shaves much closer than my Norelco ever did and with less irritation to my face! And if I use some Nivea After shave balm, my face stays smooth and irritation free for several days!
I love the fact that a single charge lasts me several months worth of shaving. And like all the rest, I like the hard case (it's travelled with me to several places including Orlando and Honolulu) I also like that you can clean the shaver under running water.
My only complaint is that if you travel and don't want to risk not having enough battery power to shave, you need to carry the charging cable seperatly. There is no storage for the cord in the hard case. Bummer.

After searching various reviews I decided to purchase the 5614XP. I am more than pleased. My first shave was great. This is a much faster shave than Norelco offers. It also cleans much easier. Just run under hot water and let it dry. Also the initial charge can give you up to 50 hours of shave time.
