This originally came with my Braun set. As I have a food processor and mandoline for other chopping needs, I wasn't sure what I would use this for. Then, my Cuisinart coffee bean burr grinder died [appararently, that's not uncommon for it]. So, I thought I'd try this out as an experiment for grinding my coffee beans. Perfect. I can easily control the grind by how long the Braun hand held unit is on. The top of the container comes off easily to see if it's fine enough for me. If not, I can easily continue the process. After using it for some time, I've become used to the change in sound and the way the grounds "bounce" in the clear plastic container to tell me when they're where I want. The first one's base melted when it accidentally was placed on my smooth top range while it was on [not recommended!]. So I bought this replacement. I was lost without it.

It is great for that little thinks that you have to cut quickly like onions, garlic.
