We purchased one of these clocks in Europe when they first came out in 1990, for the 22 years we have had the clock it has worked perfectly, always keeping excellent time despite a couple of occasions spilling a glass of water over it when it was on the nightstand, that was until about one month ago when the clock stopped, put a new battery in but still did not work, jiggled the battery and tried all the usual things but the clock refused to work.
So decided it was time to replace the clock searching the internet we were amazed to find the clock had been reissued and did not hesitate to purchase from Amazon, the clock arrived in about two days, comparing the two clocks there is a slight difference in the electronics but otherwise identical, put in the battery and stood it beside the "old" clock, about half an hour later we noticed the old clock had started to work, reset the time and stood it back beside the new clock, one month later both clocks are working perfectly and keeping excellent time.
UPDATE 12/4/2012
I have seen a couple of reviews on the internet that state the re-issue is made in China where as the original was made in Germany, closely examining the re-issue clock and the packaging there is not any marking or sticker which says the re-issue is made in China, the packaging does have an address for Zeon Ltd of London England that is all I can find.
Looking at the two clocks the numbers on the face of the re-issue are slightly smaller than the original, inside the electronics that are visible there is a few differences on the components on the printed circuit board, guessing this is most likely due to the advance in electronics in 22 years.
Both clocks are still keeping excellent time and we are extremely pleased with the purchase.
UPDATE 5/22/2013
The original clock travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, the America's and most of the Caribbean, always keeping accurate time. We have just returned from a vacation in Canada this time the original was left at home, my wife decided to give the re-issue a taste of travelling, as always the clock travels in my wife's back-pack, despite the bumping around of the back-pack and all the other changes the clock maintained accurate time and never failed to wake us up at the pre-set time.
