Product Description

In 1971, Braun launched a series of travel alarm clocks and watches. The infamous German industrial designers, Dieter Rams and Dietrich Lubs were the masterminds behind the project; and, with their "Less, is more" design philosophy they produced a number of memorable products for Braun including some of the best travel alarm clocks around. Over the last 40 years, Braun time pieces were characterized by their pure, highly functional and timeless design with no superfluous details: Every feature directly reflects a function. Rooted in over half a century of modern design at Braun, the core values of functionality, quality and aesthetics are reflected in all clocks and watches. The strength of clarity and simplicity of their design makes them a pleasure to use and to own. The analogue clocks were manufactured with the intention to prioritize innovation and durability. The beautifully sleek structure and dial illumination, together with the slight graying back of the numbers ensures that the hour arms are clear and easily readable. All the clocks use precision German movements, known for their silent nature and high accuracy. A variety of models use radio controlled movements for complete accuracy of time. A selection of the very best classic clocks and watches have been recreated in keeping with the high standards of quality of the originals. At the same time, brand new designs on both watches and clocks take the collection further than ever before

    Braun should be ashamed!
    Here lies Braun
The voice control function on the clock I purchased did not work at all.

The clock has also stopped working and have had it less than a month.

Braun Voice Controlled Travel Alarm Clock BlackI bought this to replace the German made Braun alarm that it's designed to mimic. The old one lasted about 20 years. It turns out, this one has a little foil sticker on the bottom that says "Made in China". The voice control feature didn't work unless I held it right in front of my mouth and screamed! (Not good for my wife, who sleeps next to me.) A tap on the case with my fingernail did the job though, so I kept it awhile (and disposed of the packaging). The dial light was much more useful than the little microphone.

Last week, the alarm didn't sound at all a couple of mornings; just a soft click and then nothing. This week, when it does sound, the snooze just peeps three times and quits. Do the people who make this understand that the purpose of it is to get me to work on time, ...every time!?

I'd click zero stars for the rating if it was an option. I can get a cheap, badly designed, Chinese made battery alarm at Walmart for ten dollars. Forty-two bucks for this is a scandal! Braun should be ashamed! I hope I can get my money back without the box. The vendor sure shouldn't re-package it for sale!

Although marketed as the equivalent to the Braun AB30, this clock falls far short of that great clock. The snooze for the crescendo alarm cannot be activated by a button, but only by clapping or speaking. In practice, clapping works, but one must shout or pick up the clock to speak directly into the speaker to activate the snooze. The time can be easily read in the dark with luminous hands, but the alarm hand is not luminous. As the dial cannot be lighted, the alarm cannot be reset in the dark. The clock has a soft audible tick.

I purchased this clock thinking it was like my last Braun clock and clearly I was mistaken. Don't buy I have had it for less than 60 days and it doesn't work properly. I can't even turn the darn thing off. What a waste

I have an original AB30B purchased in Europe when they first came out in 1990, and have recently purchased from Amazon a re-issue BNC004.

I have seen a couple of reviews that state the re-issue is made in China where as the original was made in Germany, closely examining the re-issue clock and the packaging I cannot find any marking or sticker which says the re-issue is made in China, the packaging does have an address for Zeon Ltd of London England that is all I can find.

Looking at the two clocks the numbers on the face of the re-issue are slightly smaller than the original inside the electronics that are visible there is a few differences on the components on the printed circuit board, guessing this is most likely due the advance in electronics in 22 years.

Both clocks keep excellent time and both respond to voice or clapping to the same volume, we are extremely pleased with the purchase.

Its quite a bit smaller than I imagined. It's only about 2 inches tall. The hour and minute hands light up at night so thats a good thing, but I cannot figure out how to actually set the alarm. You have one hand just for the alarm, but I'm not sure how to differentiate between AM/PM, and the instructions were unclear at best. If anyone could provide some assistance, that would be wonderful.

I purchased this clock because I was looking for a good quality travel alarm clock. I had previously bought a cheap clock at CVS and it was not loud enough to wake me up.

The Braun name and the higher price of the clock led me to think this was a quality product.

What I got was a cheap clock no better than the one that I paid ten dollars for.

I've been a Braun alarm clock fan for years. I've had numerous models, but the VoiceControl has always been my favorite. Unfortunately, they stopped making the original Dieter Rams versions in Germany some time ago and "revitalized" the line with a new producer. This new and improved model is absolute junk. The old version had a sensitive microphone that responded well to sound from across the room. This new model falls far short of that standard. It only works if you pick it up and shout directly into the microphone. The quality just isn't the same, especially for the price. Save your money.
