For some reason, everytime that we open a new refill - it gives off a really strong antiseptic kind of smell that completely fills the bathroom and is sort of annoying. Other than the really strong odor, which eventually dies down, the product works fine.

While you can clean the blades with the small brush you get with the Braun shaver, the cleaner helps keep the blades sharp longer. I used to have a braun that didn't use the cleaner system, and I went through blade heads a couple times a year. Now the heads last at least three times as long, which helps save a little money.

I'm all for convenience, but this is expensive. You could probably do the same job with some cleaning alcohol. It's fun to use, but it adds up after awhile. You have to change it very often, which is annoying.

The shaver works smoothly and the self-cleaning function works great for a lazy dude like me. The cleaner refills run out quickly, though, creating a minor drain on the monthly budget.

Braun clean and renew cartridges have to be the easiest way that I've ever seen to use to clean an electric razor. You just put the new cartridge in the base put in shaver, plug in and turn on.

Excellent kit for the 8000 series shaver. Only needed once-a-year and is a bargain...

I recently acquired a Braun 8000-Series self-cleaning electric shaver, and the accompanying literature advised replacing the cleaning cartridge each month and the foil and cutter each 18 months. This combination of cleaning cartridges and foil and cutter set is ideal for simplicity in managaing the the upkeep.
The Braun shaver replaced a much more expensive Panasonic shaver, and I find the Braun to be much more efficient and comfortable to use. I highly recommend the Braun and the replacement parts.
