3.0 out of 5 stars Great mixer but it doesn't last long.
I bought this mixer on sale about two years ago. It has done a great job on mixing and kneading, and the attachments are great too. The problem is that I picked it up to mix a cake the other day, and found that it now only works on the high speed. I had just used it the previous week and it worked well. I use my hand mixer a lot, but not so frequently that it should...

I had a Black & Decker hand mixer, which was underpowered and tended to splatter. I also ha a Black & Decker food processor, where cleanup was messy and food tended to stick to the sides of the bowl, resulting in a lot of waste.
The Braun M880 mixer attachments feature a unique design which eliminates or minimizes splatter. An onion did not stick to the bowl of the chopper attachment and came out very uniform and finely chopped. I was able to knead dough for a pizza with ease. The amount of power in the blender attachment surprised me at first, tending to create a suction effect and drew the blender toward the bottom of the pot when I blended some tomatoes. The tomatoes also came out very uniform and nicely pureed.
I've replaced two tools with one and have added functionality.
Overall, this is an excellent product with a very clever design.

4.0 out of 5 stars Multiple Attachments Make This A Winner, January 18, 2003

I've used this little mixer more in the past couple of weeks than I ever used my stand mixer in ten years. It is so convenient to use, and it's small enough for easy storage.

The chopper attachment is powerful and the cleanup is easy. I've used it for all sorts of veggies, and even minced fresh ginger in it. Fresh salsa was a breeze and SO much better than store bought.

The stick blender works great. The motor is so powerful that you actually get a suction effect on the bottom of the bowl. The mixer is also powerful--it handled a cake mix with ease.

I would have given it five stars, but I thought (from reading another review) that it came with a wall mount to hang it. This does not come with a wall mount, so storage isn't quite as convenient as I had hoped.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good buy, January 14, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Braun M880 Multimix 4-in-1 Hand Mixer (Kitchen)
If you don't have the space or the money to invest in three products--a mixer, blender, and mini-food processor--this is a great deal. (It also has dough hooks.) I just bought my second one. The first wore out (motor began to die) after about 8 years of nearly constant use. Some of the plastic parts are delicate--I dropped the chopper adapter soon after I got it and it chipped--but still worked. After about 7 years--the blender shaft broke. (There is a model called the M880M that has a steel blender shaft--but it's really hard to find.) I was able to find a replacement part rather easily (on-line) for about 8 dollars. Someone who cooks a lot might want a larger food processor that could support different blades and slicing disks--but this works well on many items--nuts, tomatoes, onions, etc. The chopper also has a lid for storage--which is a nice plus. The hand blender is nice for small jobs too--a smoothie, or to blend some soup. Again--if you really use the blender a lot or for large volume items--you'll probably prefer a stand-alone product. The mixer is fine for all needs. It beats egg whites, butter, and anything else I've tried quite well. The whole thing cleans very easily as well and is quite easy to use and store. A good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Utterly Fantastic! One of the Best!!!, November 25, 2006

This 4-in-1 Multimix by Braun is simply fantastic. I've had mine for 7 years...that's 7 years of HEAVY use, meaning at least daily use and it's finally about to kick the bucket. I've just ordered my replacement and thought I should go ahead and pipe up with my comments and thoughts on this wonderful product! I've used all four attachments on al manner of items and never had a problem with a "wimpy" motor...in fact, the motor on this baby seems to be quite powerful. The chopper is small, so it's not going to take the place of your food processor if you use it for making big batches of stuff...but if your family is like mine and all you really need is to be able to make small batches of salsa and chopped veggies...heck I've even made a huge amount of roasted red pepper sauce for salmon in it...then the chopper attachment is going to be perfect for you! The stick blender is great for smoothing/blending soups (like cream of potato) or tomatoes and has such force that it suctions to the bottom of the pot/bowl you're working with, so you don't have to worry about power being a factor here! The dough hooks are ideal for things like pizza dough and small batches of rolls....you wouldn't think so looking at them, but go on...give them a try, you'll be surprised at how well they work! Finally, the mixer/beaters...they are some of the best on the market and stand up well to even the thickest batters without any problems. Additionally, clean up couldn't be easier...wipe the unit down and all the attachments remove for scrubbing (obviously you can't submerge the stick blender or chopper), but these are easy enough to rinse right after use and to a quick scrub and rinse with the rest of your dishes!! So you can see why we're so pleased and I can tell you that I'm looking forward to receiving my new one and that I am looking forward to at least another 7 years of service with this one! I give it five stars and recommend it without hesitation!

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Hand Mixer for the Money, November 23, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Braun M880 Multimix 4-in-1 Hand Mixer (Kitchen)
This little mixer does everything from mixing cake batter to whipping merengue to mixing bread or pasta dough. The attachments are fabulous, too. There's a mini food processor that's wonderful for chopping herbs and veggies, and a blender attachment that stirs the lumps out of gravies and sauces or makes great smoothies and milk shakes. I own a full-size KitchenAid, and use this little Braun far more often. Buy one for yourself, and as a gift for every cook on your list!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best food processor for the money, November 13, 2003
This review is from: Braun M880 Multimix 4-in-1 Hand Mixer (Kitchen)
I teach cooking classes at a local community college which has its own large food processor. But I found that by the time we got the food processor set up, chopped what we needed and then washed for the next student to use, a lot of time was wasted. So I started bringing my own Braun Multi-Mix to class. They were so imporessed that now the school owns some and we hardly ever use the large food processor anymore.

I love what this powerful little motor can do. I love cooking with nuts and chopping them is a breeze. I can even make nut flour because it chops the nuts so finely. I can enjoy making bread because of the dough hooks, I love the blender for pureeing soups - the motor is strong enough to plow through any thick dough you could mix up. But I would have to say my favorite thing about this processor is the chopper. If I chop meat into small pieces I can even have ground pork or chicken. I do a lot of Thai cooking and I am always chopping vegetables. If it wasn't for this gadget to chop my nuts and my fine Wusthof knives - I don't think I would enjoy cooking so much! This processor makes cooking fun.

The other great thing about this is that cleanup is a breeze (unlike that of a large food processor) and it stores so easily.

Some people have mentioned that they have a hard time finding it at a land based store. I bought mine (I own two) at Linens 'N Things or at look at Bed, Bath & Beyond. I believe I bought mine there for around $40 but that was many years ago and worth every cent. Look for it by the blenders and small applicances.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, great value, October 22, 2001

The motor on this product really packs a punch. I've used it for mixing, chopping, and blending with great success (with one minor exception). Don't worry that it has only three speeds. That's all you really need.

Although the instructions say otherwise, I wouldn't depend on this product for much more that a half pound of bread dough (single pizza size). When I tried to mix a pound of dough, the dough ran all the way up the beaters. The motor seemed up to the task though. Still I think I'll stick with my stand mixer since I typically make 2 pounds of bread or more to a batch anyway.

For soups, (non-frozen) blender drinks, small chopping, cookies, egg whites, and host of other tasks, you can't go wrong with this product though.

My former roommate had this mixer when we lived together, and we used it all the time, especially for making salsa and smoothies. This unit takes the place of about 5 other appliances! I was in the market for a mini food processor, but after rediscovering this now I don't need one! It is also extremely easy to clean, and you should keep the box for storage-makes it a lot easier to put away. I can't say enough about this Braun Multimix!

I have always found Braun appliances high in quality, so I am very disappointed,

5.0 out of 5 stars Best gift ever, May 31, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Braun M880 Multimix 4-in-1 Hand Mixer (Kitchen)
We got our Multimix for our wedding, and have given it to many friends since. Extremely versatile when doing many tasks at once. The mini-food processor is my favorite appliance in my kitchen, as it makes it so easy to chop up a few onions and tomatoes. I wouldn't bother to get out the big processor for such a little job, because it would require so much cleaning, but the multimix cleans in seconds. Unfortunately, I stupidly stick my mixers into hard butter and burned out the motor, which is why I am quickly buying another.
