First the good news:

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS BUY the MPZ6 or MPZ7
I just called Braun 800-277-8611 and they said that this model lacked a "pulp regulalator" what that means is that you juice for awhile and then pulp gets stuck in it and you have to empty it manually. The above-mentioned models have a regulator.

Besides that, it rips.

First the good news:

- Like the really high end juicers, this juicer is continuous flow: no more stopping to empty a tiny little shallow container, or spilling one all over yourself on the way to the table.

- There are only two parts that get messy, and they're both really easy to clean (but not dishwasher safe, unfortunately)

- (Most important) According to customer service, the plastic cone and cup are made out of polypropylene. Unlike ABS, polycarbonate, or vinyl, polypro doesn't leech into acidic food.

Then, the bad news:

- The motor is weak enough to stall on large oranges, expecially if they're old and a little dry.

- The motor doesn't autoreverse, so you leave lots of pulp behind.

- The spout is about an eighth of an inch too low to put a pyrex one quart measuring cup under (bummer).

- The continuous-flow spout looks like a lesson in bad iterative design. Because of the way pulp is caught, the spout dribbles for about a minute after juicing has stopped (big deal - this is what saucers are for). So, the designers decided to make the spout flip up to stop the dribble. Then, to stop juice from going around the edges of the spout, they made the juice come out of a tiny little juice hole onto the spout, and put a little rubber button on the spout to plug the tiny little juice hole. It works: when the spout is flipped up the juicer doesn't leak. But when the spout is flipped down, the pulp clogs around the button and the hole.

This juicer is still worth buying if you don't want to spend the bucks for a higher-end continuous juicer. You'll have to unclog it after every five or six oranges, though, so if you were planning on bulk juicing, or have a large family, you probably want to buy one of the more expensive ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Braun MPZ22 Citromatic Deluxe Citrus Juicer, October 11, 2002

With one small detail explained below, I loved this product so much that I bought three more as Christmas presents for members of my family. First of all, it's easy -- just the pressure of your hand palming the half orange starts the machine, there's no need for an on/off switch. Secondly, the cleanable parts lift off easily so that a rinse under the faucet cleans everything quickly and completely. There is a top cover to prevent dust collection during non use. Thirdly, there is easily adequate power (torque)to juice any citric fruit. The only fault, from my point of view, is that only a typical short breakfast juice glass or cup fits under the dispensing chute. I happen to like a tall glass now and then so I wish the machine was just an inch or so taller to accomodate a taller glass.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review from a fresh orange juice addict!, December 16, 2000

For the last 30 years, I squeeze a glass of Orange Juice in the morning. I don't drink coffee but this juice gives me that extra lift in the morning. I have owned most brands of personal juicers that there is. I really do consider myself an expert when it comes to selecting oranges to the kind of juicer. This has been my baby for several years. Its is easy to clean and gives me a bit of the pulp that is necessary for that vitamin nutrition. I have found this is the best for ease of use and, dang, like the everready battery, this thing keeps on ticking. It runs after all these years the same as when I first bought it. If your thinking of buying a personal juicer, save yourself the experimenting and go for this one...no kidding, it is the best, could have given it 10 stars but they just didn't have it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Orange Juice everyday!!, November 23, 2000

I was using the juicer attachment to a multi-purpose processer for orange juice and grape fruit juice. It worked well in extracting and straining the juice, until the cleaning began! There were too many parts to wash. So, I went to shop for a separate juicer and bought this Bruan juicer for the following reasons: 1. Easy to use. 2. Only one part to clean, which means that I would want to use it every day. 3. Easy to store -- very compact. The negative side? It does not strain the pulp as well as my other one. But, pulp is fibre, and it is suppose to be good for you, isn't it?!

2.0 out of 5 stars Clogs easily, doesn't accommodate tall glasses, December 28, 2001

This review is from: Braun MPZ22 Citromatic Deluxe Citrus Juicer (Kitchen)
I recently purchased this Braun juicer. The motor is powerful and it does do a decent job extracting the juice. However, I have three problems with this product:
1) The hole which allows juice to flow from the catcher down through the pouring spout is tiny. Thus, the hole is very easily clogged with seeds or pulp, forcing the user to disassemble the pieces and manually clear out the hole to allow the juice to flow. VERY ANNOYING!!
2) The design does not accommodate tall glasses.
3) When the adjustable spout is turned down to allow juice flow, the top of the juicer does not firmly fit onto the base. This causes the top to be unstable, rocking back and forth when a user applies downward pressure while juicing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent but read on if pulp is an issue, April 28, 2005
This review is from: Braun MPZ22 Citromatic Deluxe Citrus Juicer (Kitchen)
I purchased this juicer about a month ago or so. I use it off and on, usually about 4 times a week or so. I also have a Jack Lalannes juicer so I try to alternate between citrus and other fruits and veggies juices so as not to get bored with either.

Also, if you do buy it and the price is still $24.99 and its eligible for the free super saver shipping, just purchase it and contact customer service and they will waive the shipping fee.

You need to have a minimum purchase order of $25 for free super saver shipping and because its $24.99, the shipping is tacked on even though its shy by 1 cent.

Ok, back to the review. The machine is very solidly built. There isn't any on/off switch (or any other buttons or switches for that matter). You just plug it in, and when you press on the reamer (hopefully w/ some kind of citrus fruit :) ) the motor automatically activates.

If u compare this juicer to most other juicers out there on Amazon, you will notice that not that many house a 60 watt motor like this one. They are usually 25~40 watts on average.

Why is this important? Torque!

The higher the wattage the stronger the twisting power. Don't confuse what I said for speed. The reamer turns at a very acceptable & slow level. You won't be peeling off any skin if you touch the reamer accidentenly :) , but let me say this, you have to be a body builder to be able to hold the reamer top hard enough to stop the motor from spinning.

This is important (to me anyway) because it doesn't matter how hard or how cold the fruit you're juicing is. The reamer will keep turning and squeezing out that juice no matter how hard you have to push down on the fruit. This is an important feature to me because I keep my fridge at a very cold setting and consequently all my fruits and veggies are just shy of being frozen solid.
In fact I usually let my oranges or limes sit out a little bit before juicing (it makes it easier to extract as much juice as possible from the fruit).I'm not going to go into detail as to the reason why I have such an odd fridge setting other than suffice it to say, if you ever get food poisoning you will do whatever you can to minimize the chance of something like that ever happening again.

The juice is good but if you don't like pulp, I will talk a little about that a bit further down.

The machine itself is very easy to clean, a simple rinse of the reamer cone and the juice collecting bottom/pulp seperator is all thats needed. It is NOT dishwasher safe, but then again, it doesn't need to be.

If you don't clean it right away, then it could get messy and harder to clean as the pulp and juice dry up and get crusty.

Now, the "pulp" issue.
The one con, I do not like (but not really a deal breaker to me, justa minor inconvenience that prevents me from rating it 5 stars) is the pulp.

I think the earlier models, had a problem where the hole through which the juice flowed out was so small that even the smaller pieces of pulp that made it through the pulp seperator would plug it. So they changed the design and made the hole a little bigger. What this now means is that there is more pulp that falls into the juice.

This can easily be rectified with a strainer ofcourse but it becomes the one more step standing between me and my juice (I'm not a big pulp fan).

This is the reason I decided to give it 4 stars instead of 5, because it becomes one more thing that needs to be done and one more utensil that needs to get rinsed to get my juice in the morning. ;)

My recommendation, UNLESS you have a huge family and need to juice a lot of fresh orange/grapefruit/what have you/etc. juice, daily, get this juicer.

For $25, this is the best value for money spent on a kitchen appliance in my home. Hell, my toaster was more expensive and I don't use it half as much as the juicer.

I hope this review helps and I apologize for the rambling.

I bought this because of a referral by Ina Garten (Barefoot Contessa on Food Network) and after reading the reviews of previous buyers. This is one of the best appliance purchases I have ever made. Simple cleaning is an understatement, there is virtually no cleanup. I pull off the top, rinse it and go! Thanks so much for making my juicing so simple!!

4.0 out of 5 stars The best in a crowded market of underachievers..., February 5, 2004

I have tried using 5 different citrus juicers in as many weeks; from the lowest prices to some of the higher prices, both manual & electric. Money was not the object...ease of use was, now that the honeybells were on the market, and I was deperate for a simple, effective, efficient way to extract the juice from these beauties...without stress and strain.
The Braun, my old standard, once again pleased me the most.
Easy to disassemble and clean. Nifty drip-proof spout. Enough power. Fair price for a nicely engineered piece of kitchen equipment.
Works with lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruits of varying sizes.
Not perfect, but the all-around leader, in my opinion, in a crowded market of flashy, overpriced underachievers and underpowered poorly designed cheap wannabes.

I just tried the Citromatic for the first time this morning and I was very pleased with the results. The unit has a very stylish and compact design that fits nicely over any kitchen counter. Performance wise, this juicer has a strong motor that breezes through oranges really fast. The juice is slightly "pulpy" so if you don't like your juice with a little bit of pulp, look for another model. If you do, this juicer is a great choice.
