Convenience, convenience....Did I mention convenience?,

This has become one of my favorite kitchen appliances. It saves alot of time because now you can mix/blend whatever you want, wherever the food is, whether it's in a cup, pan or bowl. It doesn't matter! The variable speed knob gives you the freedom to blend how you please. Cleaning this couldn't be easier. You just snap off the bottom section and rinse it. It also comes with a chopper attachment to chop practically anything. The attachment wire wisk comes in very handy as well to mix things. When I used to make shakes just for myself, it was such a hassle using a regular blender and CLEAN IT! Now all I do is blend in the cup I will be drinking from, snap off the bottom part and rinse. Highly recommended!

Solid, versatile and affordable,

I purchased this hand blender a few weeks ago, and have been quite happy with it. The chopper attachment is perfect for small dicing jobs, like an onion or a few cloves of garlic, but it doesn't work as well as many food processors for thoroughness and evenness of chopping. The whisk is brilliant, and can turn regular milk into a lo-cal dessert topping. The variable speed is very handy, and necessary for a handblender with 280 watts of power, or everything would fly everywhere. (Most handblenders have a maximum of 200 watts of power by comparison.) I used the regular blender attachment to puree a butternut squash soup in the pot, and was generally pleased with the results, although the soup was not as smooth (it was slightly gritty) as with a regular blender. The stainless steel shaft is the first I've been comfortable using in a steaming pot, but make sure you watch out for splashes! All in all, certainly best of class, and the chopper and whisk attachments are well worth the extra cost of this item. Recommended for small and "in the pot" jobs.

A handy blender,

This hand blender is an amazing tool that is a must for any kitchen. I hardly use my stand blender at all any more. It also cuts down on my use of my food processor, which is much more difficult to clean. Whether your making milkshakes, apple sauce or tomato sauce, this machine does it all. It's got 5 speeds and is easy to clean. It also has a chopper and a whisk attachment. It comes with a beaker in which to measure and blend things and a wall mount for easy storage. I would highly recommend this for every kitchen.

Seldom have I ever bonded with a kitchen gadget so quickly! This blender definitely deserves to be called a kitchen tool. It is used in our kitchen almost daily and replaces a lesser Braun hand mixer. In fact, my wife and I burned through two of the less expensive Braun models before we found this. And it has been hard at work in our kitchen for about nine months now, showing no signs of wear.We use this unit most often as a blender - about 90% of the time it is used to blend protein drinks or make fruit smoothies. I find it much easier to use a hand blender with a large container for making drinks than to use a conventional blender. Clean up is much (MUCH) easier and quicker as well. I didn't think I'd be using the other attachments, but the chopper and whisk attachment have proven useful and effective. The whisk attachment is great for beating egg whites. I use the chopper for medium sized jobs like chopping and blending herbs, shallots or garlic. I find it doesn't give enough control for jobs like chopping onions. The other killer app for this appliance is blending soups. Rather than the mess and burn risk of pouring hot soup from sauce pan to blender - just stick the Braun directly into the sauce plan and blend in place. It works great and is again much easier. If you have used a lesser model hand blender, you have no idea what this unit is like. It has far more power, is more flexible, and generally more useful. If you are thinking about buying this unit, I can heartily recommend it!

This hand blender whips the competition,

I love this thing. I use it more than nearly any other device in the kitchen. The extra cherry-on-the-cake is the cleverly-designed chopper. It works like this; you put the blades of the hand blender into a specially-designed top on the chopper attachement. The blender blades turn a spindle onto which the inner chopping blades are attached. So you can do small quantities of parsley, lemon peel, basil or other things that just make a green smear inside a large food processor bowl. The extra-extra nice thing is the wire whip. Good for quickly beating up egg whites or cream (though a stand blender can work a bit better.) This is easier to clean and is you can pull it quickly out of the drawer. The tall beaker lets you blend milk or other things without splashing too much. Clean-up is sweet, too--just hold it under the faucet and maybe poke a sponge at the blades. (Keep the motor end in your hand out of the water of course.) Gotta love it.

I'm a professional Pastry Chef and I use this blender all day every day for my small mixes and emulsions. The variable speed knob is cool. It gives you more control over your mix. 280 watts is pretty good for such a small appliance. It's the best "cheap" immersion blender on the market...

I have owned a previous version of this hand-blender for nine years, and loved it. I used it nearly every day for mashed potatoes, soups, sauces, etc. (It makes great pesto.) I just bought this blender to replace it, and I am thrilled. The few things that I would have changed about the old version have been taken care of in this version -- the shaft is removable for cleaning (and it's dishwasher-safe), there is more power (and it's adjustable), the chopper bowl is wider and driven directly off of the motor instead of the blender blades. Braun's customer service is excellent, too. I had a problem with my first blender, and they replaced it promptly and with no fuss.

I am single and cooking for one with the old hand mixer was so inconvenient. There were lots of things I wouldn't fix for that reason.I decided to try a hand held blender and after looking at several,I decided on the Braun 550 MCA.I've owned several different Braun products, now and in the past and have always been more than pleased with their products. This blender is no exception.I have worked with it most of the evening since I received it this morning, and already have some ready made meals put in the freezer. The variable 5 speeds is more than enough power.More than the old 3 speed egg beater mixer.Clean up is a breeze, and it cuts down on the dishes you need because you can blend anything in whatever your preparing it in.All the attachments fit snuggly and remove easily. The chopper does a great job and is plenty big enough for fixing things for one or two. This is certainly one of the best purchases I've ever made.I'd recommend this blender to anyone.

Best tool for any kitchen,

I purchased a Braun tool like this 20 years ago while stationed in Germany. It was just the hand-held unit. We didn't have all of our household items so I bought this to replace all the machines I had left in the states. This machine is easy to use, and best of all, easy to clean up. When I returned to the states, I never did get the other machines out. This replaced my large and small mixer, food precessor and blender. When my Braun died of old age, I went looking for another one. This will be my second one.

My old Braun hand blender finally gave out after 12 years or so. I was just going to get the basic model, but all the attachments on this one looked neat and had more power. I'm SOOO GLAD I spent the extra money!! I USE THIS APPLIANCE ALMOST EVERY DAY!!! Small enough to chop onions for dinner, and whip cream for dessert-no mess--pretty powerful. I can fit 18+ egg yolks in the chopper for mixing deviled eggs---super easy clean up. It chops nuts perfectly. I really like the way the attachments clip on and off!!! The only thing is that the blender is a little wider than my old model so I can't fit in in all of my glasses, but not a big deal, I just use the cup they provide. If you're in the market for a hand blender---THIS IS THE ONE!!! You'll be so glad you got it!!
