A New Generation of Blenders,
By
This review is from: Braun MR5550MBC-HC Multiquick Professional Hand Blender (Kitchen)
When my former Braun MR430HC/AC Hand Blender & Chopper died something died with it in me. Then I discovered this upgraded model. This new blender & chopper combination not only performs all tasks you may expect from a blender, it outperforms all other models I have ever used. Powerful 400 Watt allow you to chop even hard ingredients like nuts, coffee beans, and carrots easily. It comes even better: a variable speed regulator at the top of the unit enables you to customize the power for 5 different speeds. After all chopping parmesan and whisking eggs for your omelette is not the same! And for really really tough nuts turn on the turbo speed. The metal blender shaft does not seem to melt down now when I use it in my hot steaming soup-to-be. It also does not stick to the bottom of the saucepan anymore because this genius shaft has spaces at the bottom for the liquid to escape (compared to my former blenders). You do not have to clean your soup from the walls anymore since less splash is a welcome effect. Also, you have a choice between a small chopper, which I use especially for herbs, and a larger one, both with their own blades. Perfect recipe: Crush some ice in the large chopper, add right into to it a couple of strawberries, milk, and a hint of cinnamon. Then enjoy! Do not worry if you have leftovers, both choppers and the measuring beaker come with a lid for storage. Last but not least, I love displaying my time savvy little friend on the wall mount in my kitchen. It not only is placed handy there but I had people tell me it has a retro chique touch. Well, you can definetely argue about that but not about the functionality of this item. An investment worth every penny.

I had a twelve year old hand blender from another company that just broke one of my favorite blades. The company is no longer around so I just couldn't buy a new blade for it. I waited a month to see if I could do without having one and found I could not. I was tired of putting my soups and spinach in my big blender (which did not do the best job) and cleaning up all the mess afterwards.I also needed a new coffee pot so while I was online at Amazon.com looking at the Braun coffee pots, I looked at the Braun MR5550 MBC-HC and read the reviews. According to the reviews, this was Braun's best out of two hand blenders they carried. I mostly use it to puree soups, cream spinach and to mix sauces and gravies. It's so much easier to just put the hand blender right in the pot and use it then to try to put everything in a traditional blender. Clean up is a lot easier too. The motor is very powerful too. One day I used the wrong frozen spinach which had about 25% stems in it. The hand blender creamed the spinach and the stems to a perfect consistency in about one minute. I have not had the chance to use the other attachments with it, but even without all the attachments, the blender by itself is worth the money. I hope this review helps you! Flo

Best Design Ever,

This review is from: Braun MR5550MBC-HC Multiquick Professional Hand Blender (Kitchen)
Our old stick blender died and though I didn't use it very often, it was indispensible for certain tasks such as smoothing tomato sauces. When I went searching for a replacement, I was lucky enough to find and choose this one.Now I'm using it every single day because the interchangable design makes it so easy to clean. The motor stays dry and plugged into the wall while the business end detaches and goes to the sink for a quick and easy rinse. No fumbling with the cord. No gymnastics at the sink with a stick that's too long to get under the faucet. No worrying about getting the wrong parts wet. No tomato stains on white plastic - this wand is stainless steel. Ten seconds and it's done and ready to go again. Contrast this with my traditional Kitchen-Aid blender which has a 3-part lid, glass body, 2 rubber gaskets, a plastic base, and the blender teeth to clean. It's no contest. In addition, the shape of the wand head does effectively cut down on the spalshing. When it's running there is a strong suction effect which holds it down to the bottom of the container you are mixing in. Is it perfect? No. The head at the end of the wand is a little too broad for many containers. I doubt I'll ever have use for the ice crusher. The anti-splash design does sometimes prevent the full quantity of food from cycling through, so you need to either tilt it slightly or simply move it around instead of leaving it in one spot. The metal wand might cause scratches in non-stick cookware if not used gingerly. Some of the attachments collect water if you try to clean them in the dishwasher. But these complaints are nitpicky. It does its core job very well. The bottom line is that here is an appliance that doesn't cause you more work in cleaning than it saves you in doing its job. It's a joy to be able to mix up a mocha malt frappuccino in under a minute, not have to pay $tarbuck$ an arm and a leg for it, and have the blender clean before you even start to drink it. On that basis alone, it has almost paid for itself already.

I saw this machine at amazon.com because I was searching for a hand held blender to mash up my fruit to make my jams with. I saw this particular model and thought it would be great to have. The price was a bit high and I fought with myself for a few days on if I should buy it or not. My father had bought me a hand held blender for a house warming present when I moved into my first apartment and I used it till it died. I was looking for a good replacement. I finally after a few days ordered it. I had it delivered 2nd day and it came on the 2nd day. I opened the box and immediatley started to use it. I have to say that I have used it to mash strawberries, apricots, bananas, grapes, apples and many other fruits right in the pan and in a few seconds. I have used all the accessories for many different things. I use the large container for making drinks, shakes, and for large portions of nuts to be chopped. The smaller one is great for a cup or so of ingredients. Both the small and large containers have a rubber base that double as a lid when you want to cover the container (I am having a slight problem with the base staying on the large container bottom though, once I lift the container the base will stay on the counter). I used the wisk and beaker for homemade mayo, and salsa and they turned out great. I thought for sure that the ice crusher wouldnt work that great but I was wrong it did work and crushed quite a bit of ice about 3 cups or so. The stand was great too. I installed it on the wall and when I am done using the blender I place it back into the stand. I keep it plugged in at all times and it is just hanging there ready to be used. I have only had this machine for about a month now so I am sure I will be using it for other things as well. It is a great buy and I am very happy with this purchase. The machine is very powerful, easy to clean, and all parts are dishwasher safe. I strongly recommend this product to others.

They fixed all my gripes (ok my husband's gripes),

I know exactly how dominor from Miami, FL USA felt! I had my Braun MR430HC/AC Hand Blender & Chopper for well I don't actually know how many years. I used it so much that I ordered a second chopping bowl, lid and blade so that when I was cooking for a party I didn't have to stop working to clean the chopper. I just threw it all in the sink (for my hubby to clean) and used the spare. When we moved from Hawaii to Florida it went in my suitcase. When I moved back to Hawaii yeap it went into my suitcase... I took with me on vacation! When the motor finally died I actually cried! My husband looked and looked to replace the motor portion. However it was not to be. He went to the Braun website to find a replacement, but couldn't find anything. So I broke down and purchased a much inferior replacement. Then last week what do I see but a bigger better Braun. As much as I LOVED my previous chopper/blender it was not the easiest to clean. I went through three chopper lids when water got trapt in them. It is like the folks at Braun were sitting in my kitchen listening to me complain. (OK lets be honest my husband complain -- he cleans, I cook). It is much much easer to clean, and my hubby is so happy to see the lid for the mini chopper (the one I will use the most) is dishwasher safe! Even the larger lid while not dishwasher safe now has drainage for water, and cleans easier. Best of all I don't have to purchase a second chopper bowl... it has one already! THANK YOU BRAUN

Why did I wait so long to buy this?,

I love to cook but am not enamoured of "gadgets". Indeed, I gave a way a food processor after less than a year because I actually prefer using a first class knife and doing things the hard way! But, I make all of my own soups and for years went through the messy process of using an old Sunbeam blender, transferring the hot liquid from saucepan to blender and back again - yuck! No more! What a delight to use this machine is - easy, clean and simple to operate and excellent results for my soups. Soup on the table in 25 minutes! Highly recommended.

Everything seems great, but too much plastic,
This review is from: Braun MR5550MBC-HC Multiquick Professional Hand Blender (Kitchen)
I wanted an all-in-one processor for my tiny kitchen, and after reading all the reviews, I bought this one. I thought it was really neat, though I only tried the 2 jar attachments. The 2nd time I used the large jug to chop carrots, and I found a piece of plastic in the dessert I prepared with the carrots. I checked the jar, and sure enough, a piece of plastic had chipped off from the inside of the jar.
I returned it today - I may buy the same thing (if the prices come down again); will 1st check if there's a better quality combo processor.

This hand blender is very sturdy and comes with many useful attachments. It does everything it says very well and is very easy to clean. My only complaint is that there is no way to organize or store all of the attachments together - such as a bag or a stand or something.

My wife and I loved this mixer. I wasn't sure we needed it, we have a blender that works well. After the first use, we didn't used the blender again.
That was until last week, a few months past the one year warranty. It just stopped working. I expect a longer lifetime for a premium kitchen appliance that costs this much. Customer service asked many questions for their quality control, but would not assist with any warranty work. Only one and a half years of use out of this blender is not worth the price. I took it to the repair store. They said they cannot repair it. It was made to be disposable. There is no way to open it without breaking it. I would recommend any other less expensive hand blender.

At a friend's suggestion I recently bought the Braun Multiquick Professional Hand Blender. I wasn't sure about spending so much on a piece of kitchen equipment I had always lived without... but I finally decided to take the leap of faith. I couldn't be happier with the product! It's easy to use and easy to clean. It makes fantastic creamed soups. Because of the metal blending shaft, you can use this hand blender right in the pot of whatever you're cooking (thus saving you from the chore of cleaning another container!). I recently made a very inexpensive and delicious soup with onions, zucchini, eggplant, water, Thai curry paste and a can of coconut milk. I blended it with my hand blender and created a very rich-tasting, filling soup for pennies! Now that Autumn has arrived, I'm looking forward to making pumpkin soup with my hand blender! If you're considering the purchase, just go for it! I don't think you will be disappointed.
