5.0 out of 5 stars This stick blender is awesome
This stick blender is AWESOME. I use it for everything. I puree soups right in the pot without the mess of transferring to a food processor. We make smoothies in the large cup that comes with it, which fits the stick blender perfectly. And even though I wasn't really interested in having it, I use the included blender-looking attachment all the time. In fact, the 400...

3.0 out of 5 stars Product picture misleading, does not come with all accessories pictured
The Braun hand blender itself is fabulous. no holes to clog up on the sides, very sturdy, love it. HOWEVER, the photo depicts the 350ml (I think that is the size) chopping cup attachment and it does not come with the blender. I think I read someone's posting that it didn't come with teh 350ml cup, but I went ahead and ordered it, and then 350ml cup and 500ml cup...

5.0 out of 5 stars This stick blender is awesome, August 24, 2006

This stick blender is AWESOME. I use it for everything. I puree soups right in the pot without the mess of transferring to a food processor. We make smoothies in the large cup that comes with it, which fits the stick blender perfectly. And even though I wasn't really interested in having it, I use the included blender-looking attachment all the time. In fact, the 400 watt motor makes it a lot more powerful than our "real" blender. It makes mincemeat of ice and frozen berries. All parts except the motor are diswasher safe, which is great for cleanup. The other thing I love is the "turbo" mode - it's just so powerful, it zips through everything.

I was about to buy a Cuisinart stick blender when I read a review that cautioned against it, and now I'm so glad I didn't. The Cuisinart one you can only use for 15 lousy seconds at a time so you don't damage the motor, AND you have to hand-wash the parts. Who needs that!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not made in China!!, October 23, 2006
This review is from: Braun MR5550MBC Impressions Multiquick Handblender (Kitchen)
I have been banging my head on the wall, trying my best to find a decent hand-held blender that's not made in China, and I found it! It's made in Spain. I use the blender normally, I won't use it to knead bread. So I would assume it works as well as the other hand held blenders out in the market.

The hand-held blender is just wonderful. I would never make puree soup again without this thing. I use it to make marinade also. I just put all the ingredients (cloves of garlic, chunks of ginger, spices, sour cream) into the measuring cup and I get a well-mixed mixture in less than 10s.

Recently I've started using it to make soy milk. I put all the soaked soy beans and a bit of soaked rice into the measuring cup, add sufficient water into the cup and blend until smooth... It's simpler and easier to clean than a soy milk machine.

Making soy milk every week. Still going strong. But are they really selling it for $400 now??? I got it for like $60

The whisk is a little weak though. I tried to whisk 4 egg whites the other day. I was holding onto the unit for one whole minute, the mixture just turned foamy. Eventually my hand got tired because I had to keep my finger on the button, and I had to take out my 220V hand mixer again. The egg whites become stiff in less than a min with my old mixer. I used it to whip 1 egg white the other day and it was fine.

I once used the chopper unit to mix a light cookie batter (something that you would need a cookie gun), worked fine!

I have owned this device since August 2006. I use it at least once a week. I'll update this review if it breaks one way or the other ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Best kitchen tool ever, November 15, 2006

I no longer use my mixer, blender, or food processor. This tool has replaced all those and does a better job. It's so handy...no more dragging out bulky appliances. Best thing is blending hot sauces/soups right in the pot. LOVE this little appliance!!! I'm giving it for Christmas presents this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars great for smoothies, January 1, 2007
This review is from: Braun MR5550MBC Impressions Multiquick Handblender (Kitchen)
I'm only interested in making smoothies for one serving and this unit is superior in that respect to the larger blenders and food processors--it cleans up much faster. I'd say use this blender for 1-2 servings and a traditional food processor for larger batches.

What an awsome hand blender! I've had mine for a year and never a problem. So cool how all the parts snap off and on. Made my favorite fudge recipe-Blended the boiling sugar and evaporated milk to the creamiest consistency ever without melting the base of the blender. The turbo makes sauces and soups a breeze. Wouldn't be without it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost the ONLY appliance I use anymore!, November 9, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this on a whim - because I see them so often on cooking shows. Now I am back to order 4 more for Christmas gifts.
I have a small catering business and it travels everywhere I go - wouldn't think of cooking without it. All it promised to be and so much more!

3.0 out of 5 stars Product picture misleading, does not come with all accessories pictured, June 9, 2009

The Braun hand blender itself is fabulous. no holes to clog up on the sides, very sturdy, love it. HOWEVER, the photo depicts the 350ml (I think that is the size) chopping cup attachment and it does not come with the blender. I think I read someone's posting that it didn't come with teh 350ml cup, but I went ahead and ordered it, and then 350ml cup and 500ml cup separately "just in case". The shipper for the blender shipped in a timely manner etc. but the 350ml cup was not in the box. Poor choice of photos and misleading.
I will attempt to contact the seller and see if they will send me the 350ml chopper cup. it is priced at $299, and i think this is becasue the cup is supposed to be inclued, but there is another 5550M version depicted without the chopper cup for $259. What a rip off.
part 2:
as stated I ordered the 350ml and 500ml separately "just in case" and only received 1 of 2. I contacted the seller "turnpike appliance" aka "small appliance.com" and after a 22 minute wait on hold (you have to call the 516 number not the toll free for complaints) the lady did not believe the box arrived without the 350ml cup. She showed it as having shipped, therefore in her mind the issue is closed. she took my number and said "she'd get back to me". Yeah right. Listen folks, I'm not about to compromise my integrity for a $18 dollar chopper cup K?
Do not order from this company, I have a less than optomistic feeling about the company actually re-shipping the missing 350ml cup. So despite a pre-emptive strike, I'm stil missing the 350ml cup from either vendor. this is misleading. I purchased (and received) the 500ml chopper cup separately, and it is great!

4.0 out of 5 stars if only the lid..., January 4, 2007
This review is from: Braun MR5550MBC Impressions Multiquick Handblender (Kitchen)
The multi task Handblender comes really in handy. I love the design and I got really nice beaten white eggs so far. Only the lid of the chopper doesn't close properly so that liquid can escape.

This product although it performs well is not worth the money. Its older version at
70.00 some dollars performs every bit as good. at that price you might as well buy a proffesional immersion blender with three times the powe.r and performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best tool in the kitchen, March 26, 2009

MVU (Weston, FL) - See all my reviews

I bought this hand blender six years ago. I have used other Braun miniprimers before and I loved them. this one is no exception.

It has plenty of power, variable speed and a number of accessories for chopping, blending, whipping, etc.

Problems so far:
After 4 or 5 years the on/off pulse switch broke, so I can only use it with the turbo switch. So far this is not a problem since I normally use it at full speed.

Also the whisk attachment lost a wire, and believe me it needs all of them otherwise it splatters everywhere.

The chopping cups rubber bases won't stay put so I don't use them.

Conclusion:
This is a real multi tasker. Doesn't take much space and it is the perfect tool for the home chef.
