5.0 out of 5 stars Best Blender for the money!
My fiance and I run a small daiquiris business during the summer months. We purchased 3 of these blenders for our first event which was one full year ago. The blenders are still holding up fine after 2000 + daiquiris. We purchased a few commercial grade blenders and had to take them back, because they could not hold out. I had bought this blender for my wife's birthday on 07/03.

Pros: It looks nice on the counter. It has a crush feature, that can crush frozen fruit and ice cubes (our last blender turned the ice cubes into hard, smooth ovals).

Cons: When the blender runs, it can consume just about anything. However, it creates an air pocket around the blade and one has to open the lid...

My fiance and I run a small daiquiris business during the summer months. We purchased 3 of these blenders for our first event which was one full year ago. The blenders are still holding up fine after 2000 + daiquiris. We purchased a few commercial grade blenders and had to take them back, because they could not hold out. We wanted a few more of these blenders and could not find them anywhere. It doesn't appear like they are in the stores or they sell out real fast. If you are looking for an inexpensive blender that can stand the test of 1,000 of frozen daiquiris....and I'm talking about ice crushing power...This is the one for the job!

My friend purchased this blender this summer. It handles frozen fruit chunks and ice better than any machine I've seen. I have been searching for it ever since. I expected it to cost much more. Can't wait to buy it.

I've used several blenders over the years, all in the (dollar amount) range, and was always frustrated with their power and durability. This one is different. I've been using it regularly for about six months, and it still chops ice like nobody's business. A great product for a great price.

5.0 out of 5 stars BUY THIS BLENDER!, April 19, 2001

Forget the higher priced blenders and don't be alarmed that this one is almost all plastic ... this bar blender is FAR superior to other, more expensive blenders. This one chops up whole, full-sized ice cubes without having to crush them up first. This blender makes a great frozen margarita. (And the choice of only three speeds makes it easier to use after that FIRST and SECOND margarita :-)

My 30-year-old Oster blender finally died, so I started researching blenders. I was afraid I'd have to spend $100 or more to get the quality that I wanted. I ended up buying an inexpensive, but supposedly powerful, Sunbeam blender, thinking, "How bad can it be?" It leaked and was not impressive in the power department. It had 14 different speeds--how many do you reallly need? I returned it and ordered the Braun from amazon. It is GREAT! Powerful, easy to use, easy to clean. I can't believe that an expensive blender could be any better. Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars a terrific machine !, February 26, 2002

This is a marvelous blender. I've had many different brands over the years, from inexpensive to top of the line "professional use" ones, but this is by far the best of the lot.
The jar:
I like that the bottom fully disassembles so the blades can be thoroughly cleaned. The top has a firm suction seal to it, yet is easily removed. It has clearly written measurements in ounces, cups, and milliliters. It has a good looking triangular shape that I find aesthetically pleasing, and the handle has a solid, comfortable feel to it.

The base:
So sleek ! So beautifully plain ! With its 3 choices of speed + pulse action, the decision of what setting to use is made even simpler by little graphics (for instance, # 1 has a sauceboat and a banana in front of a glass). There's a wheel on the bottom of the base for no-fuss cord storage.

I haven't owned it long enough to judge its longevity, but it seems very sturdy. I'm sure if I use it "as intended" it will have a long and fruitful life...speaking of fruit, one papaya-cranberry smoothie coming up !

Update 8/29/05 (original review was written 2/27/02): 2 1/2 years later, my Braun blender is still going strong, making some yummy ice cold protein shakes for lunch, ideal for the hot days of August.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tough, Powerful and Inexpensive, December 22, 2002
This review is from: Braun MX2000 PowerMax Jug Blender (Kitchen)
After one too many burned out blenders, I needed something with bags of power, a tough plastic jug (not glass!) and inexpensive.

This blender is all that. It destroys in seconds just about anything placed in the jug, is easy to clean and easy to handle. The speed variation available is small, but doesn't affect the excellent results.

It is essential to place a hand on the jug while operating, and more than half a kW of power is slightly noisy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Versatile addition to anyone's appliances, August 11, 2005
This review is from: Braun MX2000 PowerMax Jug Blender (Kitchen)
Have been using this product for about 6 months since its purchase at Big Lots (16.00!) and have to say that it hasn't let me down, despite putting it through the paces with such challenging tasks as humus from scratch (thicker than peanut butter) and an array of frozen mixed drinks. This appliance makes a difference. The food processor has been somewhat messy in preparing pureed vegetables in whole tomatoes, but this beauty has surpassed expectations in making short work of this task in preparing some pretty good black bean soup. A real deal that hasn't shown signs of slowing down.

However, it creates an air pocket around the blade and one has to open the lid and poke the contents to reset them around the blade. This must be done numerous times. I found the best way is to pick the blender container up and shake it each time. While this was annoying we quickly got over it as the blender was much better than our last. But a few days ago on 11/03, she was crushing frozen fruit and a piece near the base of the plastic container punched through. So now we have a crude 1"x1" hole in the lower section of the plastic container. I don't know if I'll be able to find a replacement container for the blender.

Moral of the story: a good base isn't good unless you have an equally good container.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refurbished Great for Smoothies, September 12, 2002

I got a refurbished model and it came like new. I got this exclusively for smoothies. It chops ice cubes like they were butter. Now, the only question is whether it will last a year or two. I'll check back in next year.

UPDATE TEN MONTHS LATER: heavy usage and still working great -- If it ever breaks, I'll get another Braun.

UPDATE AFTER THREE YEARS: still works like new after three years. VERY satisfied with this!
