5.0 out of 5 stars Cook's Illustrated got it right
I bought this model based on a review of various blenders by Cooks Illustrated. Not only did they rate this blender best, it was also one of the least expensive models. I am very pleased with this purchase. This is a well-built machine that does everything a blender should do, with ease. This blender replaces a Bullet I bought (for the same price)that broke down after 3...

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this - blender & warranty are worthless
I purchased the Braun 5 speed blender online, used it several times a week for a 4 months, and then it just died. When I called Braun, the customer service rep took all my details (name, blender serial #, etc.), then asked what I had last blended. I replied 'fruit smoothie' and was told that my warranty was therefore no longer valid since the blender shouldn't be used to...

I purchased the Braun 5 speed blender online, used it several times a week for a 4 months, and then it just died. When I called Braun, the customer service rep took all my details (name, blender serial #, etc.), then asked what I had last blended. I replied 'fruit smoothie' and was told that my warranty was therefore no longer valid since the blender shouldn't be used to crush frozen fruit or ice. The customer service rep then gave me the address of an appliance repair outlet almost an 1 hour drive away and told me to take it there to get it repaired. I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM BRAUN AGAIN.

Compare this to my experience with Hamilton Beach. When my electric kettle died within the warranty period, I called them and they promptly mailed me a prepaid shipping label. I sent the kettle via UPS and had my new replacement less than 2 weeks later at no cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a REAL blender!, September 25, 2008

This review is from: Braun MX2050WH 5-Speed PowerMax Jug Blender (Kitchen)
I use a blender about twice a day, making protein shakes for my healthy diet. Every shake has lots of ice in it which when ground up, creates a thick ice storm for the blender to whirl through. Before this blender I used a Back to Basics - Smoothie Freeze. I was pleased with it and had no real reason to get a new blender. My wife, the sweet helpmate that she is, decided to replace my smoothie maker with this new Braun blender for our 4th anniversary. Like the description says, it really is a breeze putting together, especially since it lacks the front spout that many smoothie makers have.

My first experience with it was just to blend some water...to see how the blades took action. It was a vigorous whirlwind of slicing action! The blades were of special interest to me, since they were sharp and had some serations on them. Upon my first shake blend, it made a beleiver out of me! The ice was ground within a few seconds of turning the thing on!...and I had a shake ready to drink within about 10-15 seconds. This was amazing since I was used to blending about 45 seconds in my other blender. I've had maybe 20 shakes made in it so far...and I am still impressed with this blender. My other blender is my backup and this one takes the front seat. I highly recommend this blender for those who make shakes and smoothies. The glass jug is heavy, but because of its shape, it causes the ingredients to blend really well.

I saw a review of this blender in 'Cooks' magazine and everything they said about it is true. It is an affordable, powerful little machine and well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect blender, January 13, 2009

we have the blender jug from the previous blender so now we have two blender jugs for one electric body! The other electric body lasted over 8 years of two shakes a day, sometimes four shakes. We expect/hope Braun to keep up the great work of making their blender jug interchangeable with any improvements they may make to the electric body.
