Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What's this? )
My first impression opening the box was that this is a small, and sleek product. I read a little of the instructions before starting, enough to realize that perhaps I had let the hair on my legs grow a tad too long to use this. Luckily for me, there is a shaver head as part of this doodad. I proceeded to trim down the length, so I wouldn't jam up my shiny new epilator. This turned out to be a good/bad idea. Good idea, because I probably would have jammed up the epilator. Bad idea because I might have trimmed a little too much. I have fine hair, and by trimming it a little too short, it was harder for the epilator to grab the hair. After trimming up the hair, I went ahead and put on the "Dual Massage System" cap. I had remembered to stick the gel pack in the freezer for cooling, so I got that out and stuck it in the glove and then tried to cool down my legs. Tried because, honestly, it was a hassle. So, I didn't use the gel pack. I used the 'dual massage' cap for half of my right leg, and decided to see if the 'efficiency pro' cap was any different. To be honest, I liked using the 'efficiency pro' cap a lot better. It seemed to actually not aggravate my skin as much as the 'dual massage' cap did.

The whole process took about a hour (told ya I probably let the hair grow a little *too* long), though probably a lot of this time was spent going over parts that got missed, because my hair is so fine. So far, the results are much like waxing so far, though I'll have to give an update after a week or so. If I was still waxing my legs, I would definitely ditch that in favor of a one-time $80 for this. I am not sure if I would ditch shaving completely in favor of this, but I would do a cost-analysis with this over the long-term.

I would add that as another reviewer stated, it is loud. Louder than I thought it would be. I went into another room to use it so I wouldn't wake up sleeping toddlers.

A week after I used this, I barely have any stubble, and no ingrown hairs, which is better results than I ever got from waxing. I am loving this since the summer is coming!

I wanted to be fair so I gave this product several months before reviewing it. At first use, yes, epilation is the closest thing I've experienced to being tortured. I couldn't continue after only doing a tiny patch. Since I couldn't handle it I went to get waxed (legs, underarms, brazilian). After a few days I picked up the epilator. I was able to pick up any stray hairs missed from the waxing. Since this I had been able to bare the pain well enough, and it did seem to get easier to use each time. For myself, I found it was best to start with my forearms, work my way up the arm, and by the time I got to the underarm I had been able to get used to the pain. As for my legs, I found starting from the bottom and front of my legs was better as it seems the backs of my calves are much more sensitive, so I would slowly work my way up and around the leg. I was never able to complete my bikini area as it was way too painful and much less convenient than getting waxed. Torturing yourself is much worse and more difficult to do than having someone else work on you. Anyway, I've used this for about 6 months now, but I've noticed it becoming increasingly less effective. While it was taking more than 2 weeks for hair to grow back before, I was now seeing hair growth after a few days. I started paying more attention when I realized I was epilating twice a week. I think it started to cut hair from the surface rather than pluck them. I don't see roots, but it still hurts as if its working properly, so its not really worth it for me to use anymore. Although I've become disappointed in this product, I won't be giving up on epilators just yet. My sister was the one who suggested I get one, and she is using an alternate brand which apparently is highly recommended. In all fairness, for all the hair I was able to remove with this product, it ended up paying for itself because I would've spent more on waxing.

I selected the Braun Silk Epil 5 Epilator because I have had this product in the past. There is a newer version of the Epilator, but I prefer the older version because it has a wider head and body. Most importantly the cord stays in the device while it is being used.

I have experienced great difficulty with the newer version of the Braun Epilator because the cord keeps falling out, and the Epilator stops working. I have not had this problem with the Braun Epill 5.

The package arrived early, and everything was new and in good condition. I recommend this device.

I already have a Remington epilator that works fairly well. I read about this epilator and thought maybe it would work even better. Was I right! This thing gets EVERY hair and you could land a 747 with the light on it! I'm afraid my Remington has been outdone in a big way. The Remington does have more tweezers BUT, the Braun really seems to have a much stronger/powerful motor and gets the smallest hairs you have. I simply love it!! Great product.

Having used less powerful epilators, made in Europe, this one really seems to work well. It has a light so that you can see the area of the leg you are working on in low light. It has a powerful motor, more powerful than EmJoy or another Philips model bought in Europe, and it is relatively pain-free with respect to the other ones I have used. Good product.

my previous epilator was Braun and been using more than 10 years, but since the charger broke, so I look for a new one, and thought the new model will be better than those previous ones. It was not what i expected, did very roughly job, not very smooth to the skin, and very noisy too, but the price was acceptable.

I have tried many different hair removal products, including other epilators. None were satisfactory, but I decided to try once more, since I hate shaving my legs with a razor. I have had other Braun products in the past and loved them all, so after much comparison shopping, I bought this one. It actually works. The first time was a little painful, the second time not so much. I am waiting for my hair to grow out enough to use it a third time. So far, I get at least four weeks of smooth legs and another two to four of very short, soft stubble. I could probably use it oftener if smooth was all I care about, but I am just happy if my legs don't look hairy when I bare them. I will never have to shave again. Hurrah!

The Braun Epilator leaves your skin smooth for about two weeks with no razor bumps. However, if you have a low threshold for pain, then you may want to consider using a razor or a depilatory cream. The epilator is essentially a set of 40 little tweezers so your hairs are being pulled out which results in some pain. The pain is comparable to tweezing your eyebrows. Some may find the epilator less painful than waxing. Everyone has a different pain tolerance so results may vary from person to person. Use of the ice pack is recommended before using the system. However, while the ice pack does not seem to help prevent any pain the ice pack does seem to help with pain and swelling after using the epilator. If this is the first time you are using an epilator I recommend only working on a very small part of your leg to get an idea for your pain tolerance. The dual massage system minimizes the pain and first time users should use the beginners cap. The pain is tolerable and in time you become more desensitized to the pain. With regular use the epilator becomes easier to use. The epilator is stylish, fits well in your hand, is easy to guide and very easy to clean. Buying the epilator is a good economic decision as you will save money on razor blades over time. Also by using the epilator you do not expose yourself to chemicals used in depilatory creams. Using the Epilator does take a commitment as you have to build up your tolerance to the pain and some may find that using the epilator on areas where the skin is very thin is impossible. The resulting smooth skin with no nicks or bumps may be worth the initial pain for many users.

Since I was a young girl in junior high school I couldn't wait to get my hands on the latest beauty tools! Anything new that came out, I HAD to have and well, let's just say that not much has changed over the years!

I have owned MANY epilators and I LOVE the Braun name. My previous epilator was a Braun and while I had great expectations for the Braun SE 5280 Silk Epilator, I was let down...a little. Let me explain why. This is basically the same exact model as the last but they added a cooling glove to cool the leg before and after you use the epilator. This was not in my last Braun Epilator package (which came out only a couple of years ago), but everything else is basically the same. I was also a little surprised at the higher price tag. Braun Epilators do last forever, but if you're just trying them to decide if you like them. This could turn out to be a waste of money for you, if you're going to let it sit in your closet unused or only used once.

If it's your first time using an epilator YES, it's going to hurt. It doesn't matter if you use the cooling glove or if you don't. I remember MY first being the Epilady. Oh how I wanted it. I was willing to endure the pain JUST to have smoother legs. Does it work? It absolutely does! You have to stick with it and soon you will notice that your hair will be coming in much finer. Pretty soon, you'll barely notice and you'll hardly have to use the epilator as much as you did when you first started off.

But, if you're expecting to use this without pain, I would have to say...think about when you first got your legs waxed, or your eyebrows waxed. It hurt then and it would hurt now. The only real 'painless' way to go is shaving, and for me I just have to do it way too much, and I don't like the way it feels when it's growing in.

Using an epilator is definitely worth a try, especially with the summer months fast approaching and I'll be the first to admit that while Braun didn't change much this time around, they have the best epilators for women hands down. So, if you're ready for soft, silky legs that last up to two weeks (I'm on week two) then put down the razor and pick up an epilator! I bet after the 'Ouch Factor', you'll be amazed at how beautiful you feel when you don't have to wear pantyhose with that gorgeous summer dress or worry about stubble by the pool!

It's just another choice for your arsenal of beauty weapons! Happy Hair Removal!

Very disappointed. I've had several Braun epil products and this is the first one I did not like. The design of the plug caused it to fall out during use. It was very frustrating. I returned it for a full refund
