3.0 out of 5 stars Iron Missing key features
Iron was missing key features that we felt should be standard like auto shut off and choice of fabric temperature. We were disappointed.

After purchasing numerous Rowenta irons that kept plugging up, not heating, quit steaming, spewed water everywhere, and soleplates that everything sticks to, I decided to try a name brand I have trusted in other appliances. Braun delivers fast heat, fast and continuous steam, has a huge water reservoir to eliminate constant filling. A lid snaps shut over the hole where you fill the water to prevent hot steamy water from accidentally spilling back out if the iron should be turned over. I am a seamstress and prefer this model that does not automatically shut off. When you are sewing, constantly pressing seams, there is nothing more frustrating than an iron that continually shuts itself off and you have to wait to heat back up.

Easy to use, great features, happy wife. What else can you ask for? For 9 years, my wife has used the old Black and Decker that I inherited from my father and used for many years as a bachelor myself. It finally died, and Amazon had this great iron at a steal of a price. My wife loves it. The visible water fill level is fantastic, as is the adjustable steam quantity and extra burst. We weren't concerned about no auto-shut off since the old iron had none, and my wife is a seamstress. Other reviewers doing sewing complained that the auto-shut off was annoying when working with materials over an extended period. The only weakness with iron is the flimsy water fill cover. One little bump with it open and it will break off. It's a great feature though, since water spills make a mess. No real complaints overall, especially for $30.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny!!!, September 13, 2005
This review is from: Braun SI6110 FreeStyle Steam Iron, Lilac (Kitchen)
This iron works great. Ironing couldn't be made more easy, cause the time it takes to iron compared to my old iron was cut in half. Also, the steam button delivers a great amount of steam, enough to lift the iron from the surface for a split second.

4.0 out of 5 stars Review of Braun SI6110, September 6, 2005

The center of gravity is nicely placed and this iron is quite steady. It heats up quickly and works very well. But I switched from a Black and Decker so anything would have been better! I've only had it for a month (since 07/05) but the only thing I can say that is negative is that it sometimes leaves drops of water on the clothing. Easy to take care of by re-ironing that spot, but I wish it didn't happen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Iron, September 1, 2005
This review is from: Braun SI6110 FreeStyle Steam Iron, Lilac (Kitchen)
This is an excellent iron. It is very smooth and you can iron the clothes very quickly and easily. Only downside is that it does not have settings for different fabrics like silk, cotton, etc. All in all a very good buy for the low price (around $30).

5.0 out of 5 stars This iron knocks the steam out of any Rowenta!!, June 16, 2006
By
This review is from: Braun SI6110 FreeStyle Steam Iron, Lilac (Kitchen)
I bought a Rowenta thinking, "if it costs more it must be a better iron". I was so wrong! The Rowenta didn't last very long. Which is fine, because it was awful. The Braun, however, is brilliant! You can tell by the design that someone actually listened to someone who irons. The prongs on the plug are of equal size, so you just stick it in the outlet and not have to worry about which way it goes. The opening where you put the water in is large! You can fill this baby up fast. And it's easy to see the level of water in the iron. The cord can accommodate a lefty or a righty. The temperature level is easy to control and can be done with the same hand holding the iron. So you can go from very hot for linen, to cooler for synthetics without having to stop. The burst of steam from this iron is amazing! It sounds just like a professional steamer and does just as good a job. The iron itself is light and easy to manuever. The Rowenta didn't have any of these features! And Amazon has the lowest price for the Braun. I've looked! This is one great iron.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great iron. Does a perfect job, September 12, 2005
This review is from: Braun SI6110 FreeStyle Steam Iron, Lilac (Kitchen)
I needed to replace my old iron and this Braun baby does a great job. My older iron was beginning to mess up my cloth by leaving burning marks and sticking to fabric, so my objective was to find a non-stick, easy-to-use iron, and the Braun SI6110 has been fantastic at this. Leaves my clothes neatly looking.
