Simplicity defined, the classic Braun alarm clock in its most basic form.,

I'm a fan of Braun design, and have an ever-growing collection of the brand's alarm clocks. The original AB1 was probably the simplest of these collectible clocks. Recently a handful of the classic Braun clock designs have been reissued, and this new model BNC002 is the rough equivalent of the original AB1 designed by Dietrich Lubs and released in 1987. It is approx. 2.25-inches square. The original clock evolved into the AB1A by the mid 1990s, the main difference being a smaller pop-up alarm switch. The AB1A was available again in the last decade or so, but made in China rather than Germany. This new clock is based on the Chinese-made AB1A. It uses one AA battery (a Duracell AA is included in the package). This is the most basic of alarm clocks, it is basically on or off. No lights, no snooze function, no extras like glow-in-the-dark hands. Unlike some other Braun clocks, this model doesn't have a fold-down cover to protect the clear plastic lense over the face for travel. It uses a German-made movement--it's very quiet, and has a classic Braun crescendo alarm that starts out quiet and gets louder the longer the alarm sounds. Black is the classic Braun clock color and while the original clocks were molded plastic with an attractive matte finish, this new clock appears to be painted satin black. The packaging is black and recalls the design language that's been used on many recent Braun shavers. Made in China, with German movement. Fans of these clocks will love this most recent release of the classic clock. Fans of design and lovers of the simple should too. Highly recommended.

I still have my old German-made travel alarm clock from 25 years ago. It is still with me like a noble, old friend. The clock offered here at Amazon, of course, is not made in Germany. It is a much dinkier version, and the ticking is clearly audible. I returned it.

I love this clock! It is exactly what I wanted. Small, lightweight, black and easy to use. It is just a great alarm clock without any extras to weight it down or make it break down. I use it as a bed side-clock as well as a travel clock. I am so thankful that someone still makes a decent travel clock.

We have owned a Braun travel alarm clock for 25 years. It has run continuously every day for 25 years and just now it is not properly sounding the alarm at times. It starts to click and doesn't make it's beeping sound. I thought it was a no brainer when selecting a new alarm for us. However, these new clocks are not made in Germany like the old ones. They are made in China and are a piece of junk. First, it is really (and I mean really) hard to set the time and alarm. It has flat knobs that are difficult to change. My wife, who uses it mostly, has to change her wake-up time daily. She is unable to do it by herself. Second, the alarm failed to go off on the first morning. OK, we'll say human error... Next evening very carefully set the alarm and same result. No alarm sounds! So I set it two more times during the day and no alarm once again. If you are looking to replace your aging Braun travel alarm clock --- Do Not Buy One Of These New Ones!!!!

I had Braun alarm clock back in 1996, and loved it. Since then I was trying to get something like that, but nothing could compare.I was very happy to see that Braun travel alarm clock model is back. After having it for a couple of days I am dissapointed. Pleasant design, and the sound of the alarm is nice, it's exactly like it used to be 18 years ago. However, no glowing in the dark, no light, no coverlid. I really don't like that I cannot see what time it is when I wake up in the middle of the night. For me that's the most important part of having bedside alarm clock.

Tiny, tiny alarm clock,

The Braun Travel alarm clock works fine, but is almost mpossible to set the time and alarm. The earlier model that I had was much superior to this one. This model is just too tiny.

This alarm keeps good time, and the 'alarm' is just loud enough to hear. Guess I didn't read the entire description, because you have to turn on a light to see what time is on the dial.

Another fine Braun product. I trust these little battery alarm clocks, don't have to worry about power outages taking out the alarm clock. Have owned one since 1994 and it's still working like new.
