This this is total junk and a rip off!!!

They simply put a razor on the back of a beard trimmer and call it something new and for what reason I have no idea because it doesn't work. It is too clumsy to use and can not keep the blades flush against the skin. Only thing it can do is shave with the razor part - but then why did I buy this garbage??? I could...

Pros:

- With a shaver razor in place, this body groomer works on body hair much faster than trimmer only. With older trimmer, it often takes quite a few passes to achieve the same effect.
- Versatile. There are many different modes of usage - trim, shave, or combined. You can easily switch back and forth without having to deal with various different tools.
- Standard Gillete razor cartridges. I would rate the groomer much lower if it required razors specialized for this model only. With standard Gillete Fusion razors, you can easily replace them at just about anywhere.
- Charges fairly fast, and a full charge can take on just about any grooming job from start to finish.
- Appears to be solidly built. Feels nice and solid when holding it in hand.
- Mostly water-proof makes this razor shower friendly.

Cons:

-Priced slightly higher, in my opinion.
- While the shaving and trimming work quite fine on their own, the combination mode takes practice. It's not easy to get the angle just right. And the combo mode is complete useless when it comes to "tricky" places.
- I have a Braun rechargeable razor (for facial hair), and it has a completely different charger. I know this problem is not necessarily limited to Braun, but it would nice for a change to have a sharable charger (especially between two Braun razor products!).

It is too clumsy to use and can not keep the blades flush against the skin. Only thing it can do is shave with the razor part - but then why did I buy this garbage??? I could have just used my razor on my chest and trimmer under my arms.

Plainly put - this is a rip off and just a razor and trimmer mashed together. I don't know how other reviewed this and don't put that it doesn't work. Sending back today.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice Idea. Poor Execution., June 23, 2009
This review is from: Braun bodyCruzer Men's Body Groomer, Titanium (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This product is nothing more than a Gillete Fusion Power razor on one side, and a rudimentary "sideburn trimmer" on the other. It is rechargeable, so at least you do not have to replace batteries. However, in my opinion, the quality of the trimmer is not even up to par with my Panasonic shaver's built-in trimmer, let alone a Wahl.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but not functional, May 20, 2009
This review is from: Braun bodyCruzer Men's Body Groomer, Titanium (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
As an owner of many Braun products, I was excited to try this groomer out. My first impressions were pretty good. The build quality seemed to be very good and it felt firm in the hands. The handle had a good grip and the included accessories (combs, caddy, case, etc) were fitting for this price range.

So much for first impressions. While the build of the groomer itself felt and seemed strong, getting everything to work together was an issue. The combs were difficult to remove and I just did not feel confident in the trim and razor combo. Even when using just the trimmer, the razor just seems like it is in the way. Trimmers themselves tend to be versatile and while you are careful with them, you still tend to move more freely with them. With the razor attached you now have to be extremely careful and instead of being able to move freely with the trimmer you are always worried about the razor.

As a trimmer, this product does a pretty good job. However, it can get stuck or clog easily. My biggest issue is also why this unit is so hyped: the trimmer/razor combo. It'd be just as easy to have a razor to use separately when needed. It just seems more like a sales pitch than anything.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent concept badly executed., May 14, 2009

This review is from: Braun bodyCruzer Men's Body Groomer, Titanium (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
In short, I don't think this product is worth the extra money when compared to the popular Philips Body Groomer.

The bodyCruzer is composed of essentially 2 parts. The first part is the buzzer. It's a simple fine-toothed, one bladed buzzer that you can put 1 of 3 attachments onto. The second part is a Gillette mach 5. It's basically a 5-bladed razor that sits on the back of the bodyCruzer. You can extend the razor beyond the buzzer to use the bodyCruzer as your razor, which is a convenient feature, if that's what you're going for.

I found that the buzzer worked very well, and though not designed for beards, did a pretty good job on my beard. Unfortunately, they only give you 3 clips to use with the buzzer: "Sensitive", "Medium" and "Long". "Sensitive" is just above the buzzer blade for those that experience a negative reaction to the bare buzzer. "Medium" is actually very short and "Long" is too long. There's nothing in between, which is what I would have liked. In comparison, the Philips Body Groom has your standard barber 1,2 and 3 clips. So, +1 for BodyGroom, -1 for bodyCruzer.

Then there's the awkwardly placed razor on the back of the bodyCruzer. There are 3 height settings for the razor. All the way up is to use the bodyCruzer simply as a razor. In the middle, it's used with the buzzer. And lowest, is just the buzzer. At its lowest setting, it's still too high. It's too easy to scrape the blade against your skin when you didn't intend. And such a sharp blade is not exactly what I want next to my man-parts. I actually have to pop the mach 5 blade off the razor part when I want to use the buzzer -- which completely defeats the purpose of having the razor on the back of the buzzer.

On top of that, I can't EVER see using the razor in its middle setting where you buzz and then razor-swipe in one move. I prefer to groom my body hair rather than remove it completely. So, that feature is completely lost on me. And even if I was a swimmer or body builder, I would probably prefer something with less blades. 5 blades?! That just sounds like a lot of irritation.

As far as the razor in the highest position, I suppose some people can see that being convenient. You don't need to go dig out your stand-alone razor because it's already on the back of your bodyCruzer. But, as I said previously... 5 blades?! That's a little too much for me. I think 3 blades on the mach 3 is enough. Plus, more blades = more money. Refills for the mach 5 are pretty pricey.

What's left is the charger. The charger is an induction charger, so there are no contacts. It just sits in the base and charges via induction. There is a light on the bodyCruzer near the power button that indicates that it is charging. The only problem is that it's just a single color light. It never tells you when it's done charging, and if you leave it on the charger forever, your battery will soon not be able to hold a charge.

I gave this product 3 stars because it is decent enough to be a travel item. It's compact, comes with a protective case, and can hold a charge for a few uses. But for it's price, the Philips BodyGroom is vastly superior provided that you're a groomer like me and not a hair-remover like some. If you're the kind that likes to go completely bald, then this may prove better. I feel that it is an ill-conceived product and I would recommend others to look elsewhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad at all., December 9, 2009
This review is from: Braun bodyCruzer Men's Body Groomer, Titanium (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I have to say I'm surprised.

I thought this shaver/trimmer was going to suck when I first looked at it, mainly because of the combination of the removable and non-removable blade. And to be honest, I still don't quite understand the point of the removable blade, unless you are trying to get a very close shave (which I find you can pretty much get with the built-in trimmer). So that removable blade is not for me, and I'm not going to talk about it because I really have nothing to say other than it's the same as if you'd strapped it to one of those smaller vibrating razor sticks. But everything else is great.

As a disclaimer I need to say I'm not big on body hair maintenance and so a lot of the appeal for me here was getting something I can use on my face to shave very close without completely removing my facial hair. But, in the interest of providing a good review (and giving myself what was probably a much-needed body hair cut) I did the entire thing.

The first problem I ran into was with the attachments. A lot of the time the attachments, which trim to certain lengths, have some sort of indicator on them so you know what you're going to get. If you've ever gotten a hair cut where an electric razor has been involved you've probably been asked if you want a 2 or a 3, for example. So, with this, I was expecting at least that if not specific length measurements. Because I didn't have them, when I started off trimming my chest hair it ended up a bit shorter than I was expecting. It did a nice job, but now my chest looks and feels like the legs of Doris, my afternoon pre-school teacher who only shaved once a week (sitting on her lap was unpleasant when short shorts were involved). But once I figured out what each attachment did, things went smoothly. I was able to handle the remaining areas of my body with little to know difficulty. I've tried one of these things in the past (the Philips Bodygroom, which does label the attachments) and it took me MUCH longer. I was able to get through this whole laborious process of body hair trimming pretty quickly with the bodyCruzer. I'm just going to refer to it as the Braun from here on out, by the way, because that name is really dumb.

Anyway, if you don't mind going from your balls to your face, the BRAUN works very well as a facial hair trimmer. Thanks to the chest hair mistake, I already knew exactly which attachment would work best and was able to shave and shaved very quickly. I'm going to be using this thing for my face indefinitely. It's so much more versatile and easier to deal with than an actual razor--plus I don't have to shave my facial hair entirely. I like how it looks after growing back for a couple of days and I can just shave to that length with the Braun.

Overall my experience was good, save the mistakes I made. Next time, though, I'll do a much better job. In addition to working well you get a pretty cool holder/charger for the device as well as a few additional superfluous accessories. Overall it's a good choice. You may not use everything it comes with and make use of everything it's capable of, but you will get a good trim or shave or whatever hair manipulation that interests you most.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very practical, May 21, 2009
This review is from: Braun bodyCruzer Men's Body Groomer, Titanium (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Currently I use a separate razor and body trimmer, so I figured this would be a great product since it would eliminate the clutter of having both of those devices. I've been using the Gillette Fusion for a couple years now and really like it, so I didn't think I would have to get used to anything new there. I was wrong. I couldn't shave nearly as fast as I'm used to because it's awkward to hold the trimmer and try to shave without cutting yourself. After a couple weeks I got a little more used to it and was able to speed things up, but still nowhere as efficiently as using my standalone razor. The worst part about this product though, is cleaning it. It clogs all the time, and I am not even a hairy person, but I was constantly cleaning it to get hair out from between the blade and the back of the trimmer. It's nice to be able to use a trimmer in the shower, but until they improve on this design, I'd advise anyone looking at this to purchase a razor and trimmer separately.

1.0 out of 5 stars DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE, January 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Braun bodyCruzer Men's Body Groomer, Titanium (Health and Beauty)
Electric trimmer/Blade razor makes a bad combination. I had the Norelco Body Groomer before, which stopped working -I assume because I left it recharging for a too long period of time. So, I decided for a change to try the Braun BodyCruzer. To make this comment short, shaving with the Bodycruzer is difficult without getting cuts, due to the 5 blade Gillette system; also its electric trimmer is not very effective. On the other hand, I never got these problems with the Norelco, which performed its tasks very effectively without producing any noticeable irritation or cuts. Don't waste your money on the Bodycruzer.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not "ALL OVER" Body Trimmer, June 11, 2009
This review is from: Braun bodyCruzer Men's Body Groomer, Titanium (Health and Beauty)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
This product is a combination shaving razor and hair trimmer.
The Pros:
*It is water proof so you can take it in the shower - this is a VERY nice option
*It sits in a recharging stand, (like a powered toothbrush) so it is always charged
*The razor has 5 blades, so it is of course, great - it gives you a very close, very comfortable shave
*It is excellent for trimming side-burns and those ugly hairs on the back of your neck
*The trimmer can be used right on your skin without biting, pinching, or cutting
The Cons:
*It is expensive
*The replacement blades are expensive ($18 on Amazon for a pack of 8)
*Most of my body hair is thin (including that on my head), so it works great almost everywhere - BUT - the trimmer doesn't stand a chance against thick, or wiry hair - I like to trim and shape my beard at about ½ inch in length - the trimmer cannot grab or cut the thick hairs that grow on my face - it just pushes them around
*The hair length guard heads are too small - their deepest guard is about ¼ inch, so if you want any hairs longer than that, you will have to remove the guard and wing it - this can lead to horrible mistakes if you don't have a steady hand and great reverse (you are in the mirror) hand-eye coordination
*The hair length guards are curved, so depending on the angle of the shaver to your body, the hair will be cut at variable lengths - this is a terrible design flaw
All-in-all, I think using this product depends on the type of facial hair you have - if you have thin hair, great - get it, it will work for you. If you have thick or wiry hair - there is no point, you are wasting your money on this because you need something more robust. Given that, I think the product is grossly overpriced - I think it is worth about $30.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best body shaver on the market, September 9, 2009
By
JD (Brooklyn, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Braun bodyCruzer Men's Body Groomer, Titanium (Health and Beauty)
Excellent product and does a great job of trimming my chest, armpits, stomach, and groin with no problem. I personally prefer to use it dry, as I find when using it in the shower, there is far more friction when your skin is wet. Also, I don't use the fusion razor that came with it and in fact removed it immediately - using the trimmer alone results in a very close and smooth cut. Granted it's not as smooth as the razor would provide, but as other reviewers have pointed out, I think the trim and cut combo would be a bit awkward to use. Not to mention I don't necessarily want a razor anywhere near certain areas of my body (a slipup/mistake could be very painful!).

One slight criticism would be as it relates to the attachments. I don't have a lot of trouble putting them on/off as others have pointed out (in fact, I view this as a MASSIVE improvement over the Norelco Godygroom 2020 I owned previously), but I do think that the "long" trimmer attachment leaves the hair far too long when compared with the "medium" attachment (which cuts the hair quite short). Would be nice to have something in between, but it's something I can live without.

I bought a Norelco bodygroom 2020, and after two uses, I threw it out - it was very poorly constructed, and the foil actually began to tear after just two uses! The bodyCruzer is far and away the superior product.
