5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game!
This game was SOOO much fun! I don't know why it never became more popular! It's one of my favorites.

A game very much like Zelda, Musashi is a young boy who is summoned to another land to save the kidnapped princess. To do so, he must find parts of the legendary sword Lumina and break the spells cast over the five scrolls. Thus, Musashi embarks on a long...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty boring, really...
A dud from Square, who could have imagined... ;)

This game wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't been for the awful voice overs and boring puzzles. There is one you have to go back and do again and it was awful the first time!

The people wrapped in crystals that you have to wake up is fairly interesting as are the collecting skills from monsters. Also, the day to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Game!, November 24, 1999

This game was SOOO much fun! I don't know why it never became more popular! It's one of my favorites.

A game very much like Zelda, Musashi is a young boy who is summoned to another land to save the kidnapped princess. To do so, he must find parts of the legendary sword Lumina and break the spells cast over the five scrolls. Thus, Musashi embarks on a long journey. He strolls around town, shops at the local stores, climbs the nearby mountain, and, of course, has to defeat numerous meanies.

Besides the obvious role-playing/puzzle solving fun, there is plenty of battle to be done with the enemies, which becomes very exciting when you can actually absorb the powers of just about any creature in the game. There are also lots of little fun perks along the way, such as your dance contest with one the head of the Leader's Force (how else would Musashi fight a girl?)

I would highly recommend this game to anyone who is interested in role-playing/platform combination games, especcially if you are a Zelda or Final Fantasy fan. This game is exciting, unpredictable, funny, and it will keep you up all night!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sword Swinging Fun, April 22, 2000

Brave Fencer is an amazing game. Some of the puzzles may be difficult but in time you will slove them all. The story line is amazing, it could be turned into quite a good childrens film. If you're worried about people being killed by swords, worry no longer. It's kid friendly violence, the villians don't look human and there is no blood at all. Most of the people have a quick yell and disapeare. I really feel this game will make a great present for any person (who likes video games). So all in all, I recomend it to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly creative, fun game!, March 13, 2000

When I started the game, I thought it was dumb. It starts off as just a 3D action/platform game. But after the first 10 minutes, it develops into something much more: A highly open ended, involving, entertaining, funny game. The plot flows perfectly, but isn't linear. That is you always know what you should be doing, but you don't have to. There are plenty of other things to do than just follow the plot: Save the prisoners, find all the longivity berries, locate all the secret treasure, go on subquests. This RPG included many clever new features. The idea that somethings only happen at certain times, or on certain days is very clever, as is the fact that Musashi gets tired and needs sleep (although sleeping in the dungeons is a little strange). Most people commented about how they didn't like the voice overs, but I thought they were hysterical. They just took some getting used to. Each character had a strangely unique accient. It gave them personality. I really don't understand why this game was so unpopular. I thought it was a real winner. You should give it a shot.

A engrossing story combined with a breath taking soundtrack make this a very good game. It's what you would expect from Squaresoft. It's graphics are sometimes choppy, but the large and egrossing area's make up for it. It's story is at times joking and then serious. The music is very emotionally conveying. Brave Fencer Musashi can be cosidered on of Squaresofts best games.

Best game, I loved it! Great graphics, sound, voice, bosses, you name it. If the rating went up to 10, I'll give it 10! Figuring out the puzzles and tricks were great, especially the ice temple. Two thumbs and to toes up!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Enjoyable Game, June 20, 2000

Well for starters please don't buy this game thinking it will be like Final Fantasy. But this game is fun all the way around. You use your brain alot. Grapics are great and as you learn new techniques your attacks become stronger and a lot more exciting (explosions, crosses, etc.)It has alot of detail and is well thought out. Controls swords are t and s, jump is x.They are so simple a baby could use it. When you have to do a new move the game will tell you how step by step so do worry about not knowing how to use his sword correctly. Camera angles [are awful] sometimes and you can't change them unless you are in the village that is about the only thing that [is awful] in this game. and last but not least is the gameplay. This is where it gets exciting. You are on a journey and they always tell you what to do so you don't get confused.(I also suggest buying the strategy guide). You get to use your enemines abilities against them. You never know what ability you will get. This is a must buy for all RPG lovers

4.0 out of 5 stars Different taste, December 4, 1999

Brave Fencer Musashi is yes, fun, a great deal kidsy? yes, and the voices in the game are a way to drive away the gameplayers. It's not very much like Zelda I thought either. However I liked alot of the way things worked such as the assimmilating ability that Musashi gains. You can rescue the members in the town that have been frozen and distributed throughout the world. By rescuing these town members you can get armor, items, and new things in shops for your deeds. The story is fun to watch and the battle system never gets old. This game's about a young samurai boy who gets transported to the world in the game (I forgot what it was called) and he must save a princess that's been captured by several different people throughout the game. Musashi can also gain levels by defeating enemies and gaining experience such as most RPGs have it. The puzzles aren't too difficult so it's a game you can play through and not have to worry about being stuck on a puzzle for too long. I'd reccomend this game to most RPG players who just wanna unwind from most games. It's a joke for the vetrans. ~Seth~

This game is AWESOME!!! I played the demo of it, and as soon as I finished the demo, I knew I had to play the full version. So one day I rented it. It was a BLAST!!! I fell COMPLETELY in love with game!!! Oh! And I expect the same thing in the sequel. That's right, the sequel!!! It's due March 2005, and is called Musashi Samurai Legend!!! So if you liked the first game, expect HIGH hopes from the sequel!!!

this game is so cool. it has great gameplay, bad guys, and boss fights. you have a cool technique called assimilation which allows you to steal a power from someone, but sometimes it is manditory to assimilate to proceed.through the game there will be different powers you will recieve by beating bosses. one con is the tree breaking down, its pretty hard.
