5.0 out of 5 stars Still sounds great after almost 10 years!
I bought the cassette tape when it first came out in 1991 or so. I listened to every song over and over again.I had trouble putting it down because Brave Heart has a litle of everything on it. If you like slow balads, there's "Mysterious Ways". If you like hard rock and roll, there's "Round And Round". If "Satisfied" and "Stop My...

1.0 out of 5 stars Brave Heart - Kim Hill
I had no trouble receiving this item in good condition. I have several of Kim Hill's CDs and this one is my least favorite. It is too "rock n roll"

for my taste.

If "Satisfied" and "Stop My Heart" don't make you think of yourself, they may make you think of what a friend might be going through. There's even bagpipes in "Don't Face The World alone".

When I got a new car that had a CD player instead of a tape deck, I had to decide which of my "older" tapes I loved so much that I would also purchase them in CD. Brave Heart is close to the top of the list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sonic and lyrical masterpiece, April 15, 2002

Hands down the best Christian album of 1991 and easily one of my "desert island" picks. There isn't a single weak track on this puppy. Brown Bannister and Wayne Kirkpatrick put Kim through the paces on "Brave Heart", stretching her beyond the mellifluous richness of her earlier work to a breathtakingly passionate tour de force. A panoply of sonic treats from heartbreaking ballads and hard-rocking stompers to gentle reflections and wistful worship make "Brave Heart" a must-have not only for Kim Hill fans but also for anyone serious about a mature faith.

4.0 out of 5 stars uplifting and interesting.. a nice album, July 16, 1998

With her hauntingly beautiful alto voice, driving beat and interesting melodies, Kim Hill has a real winner here. This singer should really be more well known. Many of the songs are in collaboration with Wayne Kirkpatrick, who writes some of the most thought provoking lyrics out there. Personal favorites include, Satisfied, a song for all your non-Christian friends, Mysterious Ways, and I will wait (on the Lord) which was well worth the price of the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic that needs to be Reissued!, January 12, 2004

It's funny that the other reviews here mention how great it is to drive to this music. There are sections of the northern country of Arizona that I think I'll always associate with Kim Hill's BRAVE HEART. I had the cassette in the early 90's and constantly played it while cruising the southwest.

As cassettes go the way of the 8-track, I wanted to replace my copy with a CD--and found out that BRAVE HEART was out of print! Fortunately, I was able to special order it through amazon and it arrived today.
I've played it several times now and I still love this album. I believe this is Kim's best (to date) and I hope it finds new life in a reissue someday.

Music to soar by--then, now and always.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still my favorite, July 31, 2002

Contrary to the previous reviewer, I consider "Stop My Heart" the best track on the CD. Lyrics are strong, vocals that mirror the ambiguity of the subject, good guitars, the sounds at the end are way cool, showdown-like. Ok, maybe it takes time to grow on you.

For me definitely "car music" for scenic tours. If you liked this one, get "Talk About Life" also.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hill's "Heart" brave and lovely, July 5, 2002
This review is from: Brave Heart (Audio CD)
OVERVIEW: Just when Amy Grant started singing secular pop and cavorting with models on VH1, Christian artist Kim Hill brought pop sensibilities to more religious-themed lyrics. With a voice that hints at Christine McVie and occasionally dark melodies that hint at Stevie Nicks, the commercial appeal of Hill's music was undeniable, and with lyrics that managed moral high ground while avoiding heavy-handed preachiness, "Brave Heart" was full of catchy potential pop hits that could have easily made dents in radio.

AT ITS BEST: The Beatlesque "Words" and the Southern Rock of "Satisfied" are about as slick and well-produced as you can get, and "She'll Come Around" smartly juxtaposes a hopeful lyric against a dark musical nuance that matches its subject's mood.

AT ITS WORST: The title track is somber without optimistic payoff and overstays its welcome at a length of over six minutes.

BOTTOM LINE: You don't have to be a holy-roller to appreciate Hill's well-intentioned lyrics, and its rock stylings aren't strong enough to alienate the born-again. "Brave Heart" is what "crossover" is all about.

Already at the start of the album, i always get the feeling that Kim Hill has done her best to hold up the music. Everything fits just fine and the cd has no weak tunes. The lyrics are even better than her previous album "Talk about life".

Great Artist, Great Lyrics, Great Album. This is an older CD made by this artist, but the songs are still relevant and they sound like its been made today.
Also a predominantly christian album. I love it and i am so glad i was able to get the CD as i only had the cassette.

5.0 out of 5 stars A real musicians album..., August 8, 2009

This is quite possib ly one of the best albums I have ever heard...from the legendary Tommy Sims melodic bass playing, the tight drumming and Kims awesome voice...I cant fault this album. Every song is strong, its beautifully produced and arranged. Whether you like Gospel or not, you wont find something that you cant appreciate and enjoy on this album.

Brave Heart was my first Kim Hill experience, and it happened by happenstance. I found the CD in the bargain bin, and figured I'd give it a shot.

I took it home and enjoyed it a great deal.

From the simple "I Will Wait" to the upbeat "Round and Round", this CD shines with Kim's melodic voice and Wayne Kirkpatrick's wonderful songwriting.

I listened to this CD for several months before it was pointed out to me that Kim Hill is a contemporary Christian artist.

I've purchased several other of Ms. Hill's music and I've enjoyed each one.
