I didn't read the age for this book as it is for someone older then my 5 year old. With no picture to look at as I read, she fell asleep quickly. Finally a Disney Princess that dosen't get married. So this will be read more than the others.

My 5 year old is a pretty strong reader. She wanted a book on Brave but I wanted something slightly more challenging than the numerous picture books they have out. This book was PERFECT for her. It kept her interest and compelled her to finish each chapter. She loved it and I was pleased with the writing in the book. It had just enough new vocabulary words to keep her interested without becoming overwhelming for her.

Fairly accurate rendition of the movie, and I like how they tried to write the words as they should be pronounced. This would be a good bedtime story to read a chapter to your little one each nite before bedtime.

This old Scot couldn't wait for the movie.
A fine book for young readers, this tale is a variation on Disney's Little Mermaid and also has some of the motifs from Mulan. I had hoped to see a few more motifs from genuine Scottish folklore. The men are caricatures of highlanders like the men in How to Train Your Dragon were caricatures of Vikings. Merida and her mother are the only rounded characters. Everyone else is just comic relief.

I may be an adult, but I loved this movie so much that not only have I bought the soundtrack and trying to get a digital copy on iTunes, but I also bought this for my Kindle. It may be a book for kids, but I loved it so much and I can barely put it down. I haven't seen the movie in so long and the book made my memory of the movie better than I remembered it to be. For anyone who loves this film, child or not, I would recommend this!

I'm reading this to my 7 year old daughter (she will usually read a few pages then turn it over to me to read a few chapters), and it's a good book - entertaining enough. Seems to be pretty true to the movie. I didn't see the movie, but she did, and she frequently pipes up "Oh, I remember this part!". She's enjoying it, so I guess it's a success.

I bought this for my granddaughter after we watched the movie. She loved the movie and she really got into reading the book to me. Brave is such a great story for girls--strong central character!

I bought this book for my nine year old and she loved it. It has all the details and characters of the movie. Now my daughter wants to go to Scotland herself!

It is the movie in a book for young readers. Daughter (9) loves it. She loves Disney, Merida and Archery and the book has all three.
