A Full Life,
By Alex Goh (Malaysia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Brave Land (Paperback)
Every so often, a book comes along that makes you want to jump out of your seat, pack your backpack and embark on a journey of discovery and savor life to its full extend . Brave Land is one such book and Ray Hu is definitely one such person. One is almost envious of Ray Hu, with such a colorful family history background, having the "good fortune" of impeccable timing (he seems to be "at the right place at the right time") and the tenacity and resolve to pen and share his journey of discovery. It is a joy to "travel" and "learn" with Ray Hu through his experience and he has cleverly crafted it in the book against the backdrop of the tumultous and eventful century in the history of China. Indeed,it is the future generations that will benefit from this endeavor, in very much the same way Ray Hu's generation has benefited from the endeavors of his forefathers. Thanks, Ray, for sharing your family, journey and a interesting insight & perspective of 20th century China history. |
