The reviewer who says this movie is supposed to be about Britney Spears' road to fame and the girl plays Britney is incorrect. Anybody who knows Brit's history knows almost nothing in the movie happened to her. It's based on a different girl with a different name and the story was loosly inspired...not even based, from Britney's life and her relationship with her mom. Actually, the movie is based on a book that Britney wrote with her mother called "A Mother's Gift". That aside, it's a good movie. I wasn't even going to give it a chance, but I'm glad I did because it's a cute family movie and although corny at times (especially the ending) the characters are very dynamic and you really feel a conection to her and her mom in the movie and the sacrifices they make for each other. The one thing I thought that kinda brought the movie down was the parts that actually had something to do with Britney, oddly enough. Like the madonna posters in the room just like "crossroads" and the fact that Britney was this girls idol and she kept singing "Stronger". These things weren't in the book and it's way too predistable and cliche for the producers of the movie to include them.

Loved The Movie,

I found the movie rather cute. Of course if any movie has dancing or singing, I'll automatically love it. :) But the lip synching was pretty obvious in most parts. And from that, it makes you wonder who exactly can REALLY sing. Oh well, I still love the movie and I think it's worth the watch.

I knew I was buying used when I bought this but when it said it was in good condition I really don't know what they where looking at. The DVD case was all smashed up, the DVD had a bunch of scratches on it, the first thing I did was load it into my computer so that I could watch without fear of the scratches messing it up.

Movie was your typical ABC Family monthly movie, it had it's good parts and it's bad parts. Britney fans would love it for all the references and the fact that she wrote the book it's based on and produced the movie with her mom. Non Britney fans would like it too.

Allright movie. I wouldn't watch this over and over. I only buy it because it was produced by Britney and her mom. The movie doesn't really reflect the book. A must have for any Britney fan.

Dreams can come true with faith, hard work and perseverance,

This 2004 tv film is based on the book "A Mother's Gift" written by Britney Spears and her mother. The story involves a single mother (Virginia Madsen) and her talented daughter (Lindsey Haun) who are poor, good-hearted Texans. The daughter's dream is to go to a prestigious music school in Philadelphia. The mother sacrifices everything (literally) to make it happen. There are humiliating obstacles and intense pressures. Can the daughter persevere and succeed. What about the mother?
Some people wrote negative reviews just because the story was written and produced by Britney Spears and her mother. These people obviously hate Britney. Regardless, the truth is she's a talented, likable pop musician/showman, not to mention incredibly famous. I don't listen to her style of music and would likely never buy one of her cds or see her in concert but who can deny this? What matters is: Is the story any good? Yes it is. Both my wife and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. No, it won't blow you away or anything, but it holds all the way and throws in a couple of surprises. Lindsey Haun, who plays the daughter, is very reminiscent of Melissa Joan Hart of "Sabrina" -- both likable and cute. There are quite a few other likable cast members, including Madsen. The story also features a couple of people you'll love-to-hate. Also be on the lookout for the redheaded dancer played by Jessica Dawson, who is incredibly good-looking, to say the least. Other than the obvious fulfilling-your-dreams-through-belief-and-perseverance-despite-the-obstacles, the story addresses a few other important themes: -- You'll always have an enemy who wants you to fail. -- There will always be people who are willing to give you a helping hand or guidance; take advantage of these precious souls. -- It's easy to take for granted the good things in your life until you meet someone who doesn't have them. -- As two of Solomon's proverbs state: "Better a meal of vegetables where there is love than a fattened calf with hatred" and "Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting with strife." PERSONAL GRADE: B+ or A-

Saw the beginning of this movie on TV and never saw it again to see the end. So bought the movie and enjoyed seeing the entire movie without breaks. Everything went well from initial order to watching the movie. Well worth the price.

Based on a Book,
This review is from: Brave New Girl (DVD)
This movie is based on the book "Brave New Girl" that Britney Spears and her mom Lynn Spears co-wrote. It is actually a pretty good book and the movie dipicts the story well. I think that the book is actually better, and Britney and her mother are pretty good authors in my opinion.
