5.0 out of 5 stars Brave enough to have it?, June 25, 2002
By
Desianto Fajar W. (Semarang, Central Java - Indonesia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Brave New Hope (Audio CD)
Brave New Hope is more likely a group of remix songs. It has nine songs; five of them are the same songs from previous albums with their remixes.

Brave New Hope
Please see my review on Brave New Hope in London Warsaw New York. For the remix version, it is not so different from the original one, just omitted some instruments from it. Anyway, it gives us more choices in listening Brave New Hope.

Until You Come Back to Me and Cruising for Bruising
I prefer the previous one in London Warsaw New York. No more comment.

Give Me That, Masquerade, and Come to Heaven
One good point in these songs is the voice of Danny White. Finally, we can hear him sing in Basia's albums. Come to Heaven has almost the same style as Miles Away, although it is not Swing Jazz - it is close to 1950's Ballad. Nice songs to listen to.

Forgive and Forget
If you get the UK and Japan version of Time and Tide, you will find it together with Give Me That in them. Forgive and Forget has a classic Blues style that I really love. But it still has Basia's characteristics that make it different from the ordinary Blues songs. So, do you agree with me if I call it 'Bluesia'?

From Now On (band version)
Still the same as it in the original version; rather shallow and light voice. However, it gives an alternative for you in listening From Now On. After all, the arrangement is nice, which give the song a plus mark.

It's true that this album contains old songs with some other version. However, if you are true Basia lovers, then this is a must for you to have it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Heavy overlap with "London Warsaw New York", May 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Brave New Hope (Audio CD)
This EP, released shortly after "London Warsaw New York", is a bit of a disappointment. Several songs are the same as the LWNY version and the remixes are almost indistinguishable from the originals. The saving graces are the four additional songs. I really like both "Masquerade" and "Come to Heaven"; they are some of Basia's sassiest pop-jazz numbers. "Give Me That" is mediocre, and "Forgive and Forget" was a track from "Time and Tide" that only seemed to make it onto the European and Japanese releases.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, May 11, 2001
By
This review is from: Brave New Hope (Audio CD)
Although some overlap with London, Warsaw, NY, the new stuff is a lot more interesting. Glad I got it. I agree, Masquerade and Come to Heaven are the best cuts on the CD--I've worn out two tapes of the CD in my car!
