Brave enough to have it?,
By Desianto Fajar W. (Semarang, Central Java - Indonesia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Brave New Hope (Audio CD)
Brave New Hope is more likely a group of remix songs. It has nine songs; five of them are the same songs from previous albums with their remixes.Brave New Hope Until You Come Back to Me and Cruising for Bruising Give Me That, Masquerade, and Come to Heaven Forgive and Forget From Now On (band version) It's true that this album contains old songs with some other version. However, if you are true Basia lovers, then this is a must for you to have it.

Heavy overlap with "London Warsaw New York",
By A Customer
This review is from: Brave New Hope (Audio CD)
This EP, released shortly after "London Warsaw New York", is a bit of a disappointment. Several songs are the same as the LWNY version and the remixes are almost indistinguishable from the originals. The saving graces are the four additional songs. I really like both "Masquerade" and "Come to Heaven"; they are some of Basia's sassiest pop-jazz numbers. "Give Me That" is mediocre, and "Forgive and Forget" was a track from "Time and Tide" that only seemed to make it onto the European and Japanese releases.

Although some overlap with London, Warsaw, NY, the new stuff is a lot more interesting. Glad I got it. I agree, Masquerade and Come to Heaven are the best cuts on the CD--I've worn out two tapes of the CD in my car!

Come to Heaven!,
This review is from: Brave New Hope (Audio CD)
Sure, this EP (which is actually the length of an average LP) features mostly remakes from the London Warsaw New York album, but if you are a diehard fan of Basia's you're going to pick it up anyway. While there are remixes of "Brave New Hope," "Until You Come Back to Me," and "Cruising for Bruising," there is also an irrisistibly captivating samba band version of Time and Tide's "From Now On."
Four new songs are also included, making this an absolute must for your Basia collection, but the two best are the winsome, bluesy "Forgive and Forget" (Sing it, girl!) and my personal favorite of all her songs, "Come to Heaven." What an absolute brass enhanced joy, and what a vocal performance! Alright, I'm in love with the hook too, and hook is the operative word here. This song is so infectious it plays in your head after one listen. I once had a tape of this EP and broke it playing that song over and over--it's that good! Best of all, this was just an appetizer for great things to come: her best album, The Sweetest Illusion. If you don't own Brave New Hope, get it for, if nothing else, the song I titled my review after. Other reviewers here seem to agree, so what further coaxing do you need?

1 is all it takes,

9 songs and 5 are remixes. I am a fan so the remixes are fine. Of the 4 others on the album "Give Me That", "Forgive and Forget", and "Masquerade" are all very good. "Come To Heaven" is the reason to buy this album even if the rest of the audio was static. You will not find a more moving or powerful song by Basia on any other album. Enjoy!!!!

This CD, much like her others, is simply great. Her voice is amazing - love the whole CD. Wish she did more CDs regularly.

Another very good album from Basia,

This album covers some songs with different version plus several new songs (or previously unreleased on her first two albums). You can hear From Now On with a different version, which IMHO is better than the album version. The other new songs are my favourite. It a must have album for Basia fans.
