(So...Let's try to tell all in english language!...)You can shine by your courage. You can shine by your kindness. You can shine by your love of live. You can shine by your absence, or your silence. You can shine by your humour or your seriousness. You can shine by your voice, your eyes, your feet, your arms, your head. Doing your proper way, whit or whitout asking yourself where you are going on, and why you're doing things. Mister Helfgott is just a man who shines by his heart, his head and his fingers... As many other people, i discovered the pianist by the moovy "Shine"...But... Here, whith this musician, the pianist doesn't only plays music. I still persuaded that this musician only showed us one part of his incredible and unique gift.

Helfgott delivers a very heartfelt human performance and the repetoire suits him well. If I were to purchase a Helfgott CD, this one is special ;)

Brilliant, sublime virtuosity,
This review is from: Brave New World (Audio CD)
Have all the Helfgott available except Pictures at an Exhibition. (Found in the nick of time that's what what was on it - for program music, I prefer Mickey Mouse in The Sorcerer's Apprentice.) And love them all. This anthology is no exception. Helfgott is/was (is he still alive?) a virtuoso of the first water. Love his playing. This anthology has Gershwin's 3 preludes on it. Like them. Usually find them (like on Heifetz) transcribed for violin. But the whole album is good. Highly recommended.

Another outstanding contribution from a gifted performer,

Having just heard many of these pieces at a concert by David [Perth 21 Feb '99], the CD admirably captures the outstanding interpretation he has given these works. Even though the composers were not all favourites of mine, they are well on the way to becoming so. Along with an earlier recording by David - "Brilliantissimo", this recording adds another dimension to previously accepted interpretations of these works.

One of the Worst CD's Ever Produced!,
This review is from: Brave New World (Audio CD)
How can anyone give this five stars? How? It's garbage, like all Helfgott's other CD's! There are so many talented pianists pouring out of the premier conservatories around the world who cannot land a record deal and RCA hands one to the worst pianists in history. On this CD, Helfgott turns a noble, well manered Bosendorfer concert grand into a harsh, brittle sounding tin can. He bangs out the notes, rather than forming musical ideas. Why stop there? In several of the tracks, the piano is noticeably out of tune (Though this is out of Helfgott's control). I get nautious just listening to this. Go buy a CD of Vladimir Horowitz or Arthur Rubinstein (Or Anyone) instead.

David Helfgott never ceases to amaze me!! This CD is full of wonderful music-my favorite was "Sabre Dance", the last track. Buy this if you like music, period!!

Indescribable...,

I have not seen the movie, "Shine," which deals with David Helfgott. And I have read a negative article about him which made me somewhat doubtful of his music. And that snobbish mind just BLEW AWAY when I heard this CD. I only can sigh especially when I hear the 13th music, Debussy's "Claire de Lune." I am reminded of all the places I have been, London, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo (The CDs cover features such cities) ... Now San Francisco. The music rings out somewhat cosmopolitan theme, and now I am addicted to it... I am a string fan, but I give an exceptional praise for this CD. Now I know there is a God.
