This review is from: Bravo!: A Guide to Opera for the Perplexed (Hardcover)
This book is an excellent introduction to the opera for beginners. The strange art where people die while singing ten minutes becomes touching and interesting after reading this book.

This review is from: Bravo!: A Guide to Opera for the Perplexed (Mass Market Paperback)
Opera may be the most ambitious performing art form ever developed, but Scherer is undaunted: whether you know nothing or a lot, he's an engaging guide, reminding, reinforcing and opening the doors to greater appreciation. Every art, including dance, film, painting, poetry and fiction, should be so lucky.
