BETTER THAN YOU REMEMBERED,
By Simon Donnybrook (Kansas City) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Brazil (Audio CD)
A Men At Work live album? I say: buy this album. Not a stinker or a clinker on the disc. "No Sign of Yesterday," "Overkill" and "Down Under" are killer. New studio cut of "The Longest Night" (one of the finest songs ever written by Greg Ham) is a dramatic warning about the end of days. I saw the "new" MAW here in Oklahoma City last summer. They were phenomenal--in fine voice and their playing was spirited and fun. BUY this album. You won't be sorry.

One of the best Live-CDs I have,
This review is from: Brazil (Audio CD)
This Live CD I like best from Men At Work, because of its good live feeling. It's noticable live, and you hear like they work hard to give their best. Therefore I like it more than any studio-Greatest. I think, the loss of studio perfection is more than compensated by the capturing live feeling. And it contains allmost all of my favourite songs. On this CD, men at work really impressed me. A small pity is, that there was a lineup change of the band members before this concert, so you might not find your favourite lineup here. But for me this is not a problem here. This CD is still very enjoyable and delivers a perfectly positive Live feeling. Great.

THE MEN (AT LEAST THE MAIN ONES) ARE BACK!!!!,

This review is from: Brazil (Audio CD)
"Brazil" is the new live CD from the 80's stars Men At Work. Colin Hay is in fine voice and Greg Ham is in fine form as the men go thru their catalog of hits "Overkill", "Who Can It Be Now" "Be Good Johnny" etc. and sound like they enjoy doing it. The crowd in Brazil sounds pumped and into every song. The underrated epic "Down To The Sea" sounds mesmorizing and more powerful than the studio version. Also, as a bonus the new single "The Longest Night" ends the album and is a fine ballad sung well by Colin Hay. The Men are back, and lets hope a new studio album is in the works!

This album is amazing! It's the best live album I've ever heard! MAW has come a long way over the years. The entire band is sensational as professional musicians as well as personal friends! The music touches me like nothing ever has before;especially Simon's guitar solo on track #6, No Sign of Yesterday, and to see it live is even better! I miss you guys! Come to NYC, hurry!

I first listened to Men At Work when I was in the sixth grade. Since then, I still listen to their music from time to time. "Brazil" encapsules all the greatest hits live and one brand new song. Thanks for the memories guys...

W-O-W!!! What a great CD!!! I was impressed by the level of musicianship. I'm not sure who is on it and whether they are the original members, well of course for Colin Hay, but this was a great performance. I really enjoyed the line up of songs. I'm just glad they didn't include "I Like To". I really hate that song. Other than that, all of the songs that they put out are really catchy, have a great hook and the lyrics are memorable.
Down By The Sea is one of my favorites and the way that they do it here is really great. What is strange is that even though the songs are played the way they were recorded in terms of feel, there was that element of "live" that made them sound "different" and not boring. I can't say enough about this CD. All I know that if it wasn't for Amazon Digital Downloads section, I wouldn've purchased this album. "The Longest Night" is a great song. I just don't like that whole, generic synthesized sax and drums. Although, the drums may or may not have been synthesized. But, it sounded too "clean" for me. Even though "The Longest Night" is a great song, it sort of "ruined" the whole live experience. It was an afterthought of the entire CD. I agree, the song was good, but shouldn've been added at the end of the concert. Oh, well. I recommend this CD if you are a true fan of Men At Work!!!

MAW Rule!!!,

This review is from: Brazil (Audio CD)
Yes MAW "FINALLY" came out with a live disc that their fans can enjoy "BUT" the one thing i have a problem with is the "Bonus TracK" and supposedly new The Longest Night. A long time MAW fan would realize that this song was also on a MTV concert featuring MAW in the early 80's. Otherwise it is a great disc!!!!! It's just too bad we'll never see the original line-up again as i feel they had so much more to offer, but at least we have this great offering to keep us satisfied.....
