She’s fought to keep their child a secret…
Isobel has never forgotten the night Brazilian millionaire Alejandro Cabral took her virginity.  The image of Alejandro’s dark, sexy body has left a lifelong impression on her – as did his seed… He will never know he has a little daughter…
Until three years later, when Isobel is led right back to Alejandro – and she’s shocked. He’s a changed man. He’s still utterly sexy, but a terrible car accident has left him scarred, brooding and bitter. What’s more, he’s deliberately lured Isobel to Brazil because he knows all about his child…

5.0 out of 5 stars Due diligence, April 12, 2010

This review is from: The Brazilian Millionaire's Love-Child (Harlequin Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)
One of the first things that I liked about this book was Alejandro's initiative in checking up on his ex love, Isobel, and discovering on his own that he had fathered her child. Most of the time in secret baby themes that I have read, the hero is not so diligent and is later blind sided when he discovers that he has a child. The next thing I liked about this book was that it was by Anne Mather. She brings a mix of insightfulness and sensuality to her stories that commands a reader's attenion. I think this is a smart and passionate story. Smart because the lines are clearly drawn there is no dragging on of an empty conflict just to fill the pages--Isobels concerns are addressed and smartly disposed of. Alejandro requires some convincing that he is not repulsive to Isobel, but once he is other obstacles are dealt with. Passionate-- you will discover for your self when you read first hand what happpens when all their barriers come down. Again I really liked Alejandro. The way he tracked Isobel on his own and accidently discovered he had a child was a rare treat for me.

Alejandro the alpha rich, gorgeous Brazilan male who was in England on business went to a party and fell in love with Isobel. He couldn't stop himself from making love to Isobel even though he was engaged to someone else in Brazil, or at least that's what I read. Isobel was a writer for a magazine her uncle owned and three years after Alejandro left her, she was sent to Brazil to interview Alejandro's mother-in-law who was a famous writer. Of course unknown to her Alejandro had set that up because he wanted to see Isobel and to know more about his daughter. Alejandro had promised to go back to England and see Isobel, but he never did because of the terrible accident he had. This story could have been really good but it just never got better. I felt nothing for this guy or for Isobel, they were kind of boring. It never really gave a reason why he married Miranda, I think that was her name..I didn't really care. I can't recommend this book, I did finish it however. There have been many I couldn't finish so that's why I gave this book two star.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cheesetastic, August 31, 2011
This review is from: The Brazilian Millionaire's Love-Child (Harlequin Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)
Wow, I guess if you're looking for a very superficial romance, then this might do. I still have no idea why the hero and heroine got together. The hero is manipulative, superficial and petty, first seducing a complete stranger, then engineering a completely improbable setup with the heroine.
Admittedly, the heroine was likable, if poorly developed. However, she alone can't make up for the weak plot and other characters.

I had pretty low expectations, but this didn't even meet those.
