5.0 out of 5 stars Due diligence
One of the first things that I liked about this book was Alejandro's initiative in checking up on his ex love, Isobel, and discovering on his own that he had fathered her child. Most of the time in secret baby themes that I have read, the hero is not so diligent and is later blind sided when he discovers that he has a child. The next thing I liked about this book was...

Alejandro the alpha rich, gorgeous Brazilan male who was in England on business went to a party and fell in love with Isobel. He couldn't stop himself from making love to Isobel even though he was engaged to someone else in Brazil, or at least that's what I read. One of the first things that I liked about this book was Alejandro's initiative in checking up on his ex love, Isobel, and discovering on his own that he had fathered her child. Most of the time in secret baby themes that I have read, the hero is not so diligent and is later blind sided when he discovers that he has a child. The next thing I liked about this book was that it was by Anne Mather. She brings a mix of insightfulness and sensuality to her stories that commands a reader's attenion. I think this is a smart and passionate story. Smart because the lines are clearly drawn there is no dragging on of an empty conflict just to fill the pages--Isobels concerns are addressed and smartly disposed of. Alejandro requires some convincing that he is not repulsive to Isobel, but once he is other obstacles are dealt with. Passionate-- you will discover for your self when you read first hand what happpens when all their barriers come down. Again I really liked Alejandro. The way he tracked Isobel on his own and accidently discovered he had a child was a rare treat for me.

Alejandro the alpha rich, gorgeous Brazilan male who was in England on business went to a party and fell in love with Isobel. He couldn't stop himself from making love to Isobel even though he was engaged to someone else in Brazil, or at least that's what I read. Isobel was a writer for a magazine her uncle owned and three years after Alejandro left her, she was sent to Brazil to interview Alejandro's mother-in-law who was a famous writer. Of course unknown to her Alejandro had set that up because he wanted to see Isobel and to know more about his daughter. Alejandro had promised to go back to England and see Isobel, but he never did because of the terrible accident he had. This story could have been really good but it just never got better. I felt nothing for this guy or for Isobel, they were kind of boring. It never really gave a reason why he married Miranda, I think that was her name..I didn't really care. I can't recommend this book, I did finish it however. There have been many I couldn't finish so that's why I gave this book two star.

Wow, I guess if you're looking for a very superficial romance, then this might do. I still have no idea why the hero and heroine got together. The hero is manipulative, superficial and petty, first seducing a complete stranger, then engineering a completely improbable setup with the heroine.
Admittedly, the heroine was likable, if poorly developed. However, she alone can't make up for the weak plot and other characters.

I had pretty low expectations, but this didn't even meet those.

1.0 out of 5 stars DECEPTIVE BACKCOVER DESCRIPTION, March 26, 2010

I can't make my self finish this book. I guess I was disappointed about the misleading backcover description. English maybe my second language but when the product description states: " Isobel has never forgotten the night Brazilian millionaire Alejandro Cabral took her innocence" for me it implies that the heroine is a virgin. I know innocence does not necessarily mean virginity. Innocence can be used to imply an ignorance or lack of personal experience in life. But the book description suggested that the heroine is a virgin. The author is trying to pass the heroine as innocent in bed. The heroine may have not experienced sexual climax with her ex-husband but it does not make her a virgin or innocent in bed. It's impossible that the heroine had sex with her ex-husband and still with innocence and virginity intact. Unless for some reasons in the middle of this story the author explained that sex between the heroine and her ex-husband only involved kissing and lots of hugs. Also, why the author thinks that it's really necessary for the hero to speak in his native tongue then translate it in English. It's really annoying. Why bother, it's unnecessary and a waste of space. If I put all the foreign words together, it will probably make a complete chapter.
